actually the blood and hair of Lincoln.... i kind of have that. my dad bought it about 10 years ago. apparently they cut up the pillow case and sold small pieces of it right after he died with blood and hair still attached. there's a bunch more of them floating around somewhere.

I've actually wondered if there is enough viable dna left to clone him.

Mosey 2008-07-17 03:09:49 PM
Isn't it cheaper just to buy the politician rather than a memento of one?

my erotic Hummel figures didn't make the list?

If not, I have an uncle who owns twelve pair of Lincoln's tube socks.

I have two favorite pieces of political memorabilia:

1) A "Dole-Kemp" plastic football that has "Dole-Kemp: Touchdown!" on it from 1996. Everytime I see it I think, "fumble"!

2) During the first years of the Soviet Union, the communists had a chess set with "red" and "white" chess pieces (Lenin was the king, Trotsky was a knight, etc.). With red being communists and the white being the Russian royal family. When Stalin came to power the pieces had to keep changing to keep up with who became "enemies" of Soviet Russia. If I remember right, they stopped being made in the late 1920s. I would love to have one of these sets but they are not cheap when they turn up.

Xerxes99 2008-07-17 03:15:44 PM
Eva Braun's Home Movies & Donkey Punch... now that sounds like a fun double feature to bring the family to...

Actually, it's Taft's dollop of sour cream.

/If you're going to steal from other sources, at least get the names right.

I'd go for the Lyndon Johnson hairs if I could be guaranteed they were pubic. That boy was a stud.

One of my granddad's bequests to me were four envelopes, signed by a bunch of local politicians and assorted B-list Congressmen--but also by Nelson Rockefeller, Gerald Ford, George Wallace, and Richard Nixon. I'm fairly certain the Rockefeller, Ford, and Nixon "signatures" are really autopenned, but the Wallace signature is legit.

Good old granddad...great guy, great amateur boxer, lousy taste in politics.

I thought the same thing. I want to make Evil Lincoln!

ec1.images-amazon.com
From Urban Dictionary (new window):

Identical in appearance to your average Abraham Lincoln, an Evil Lincoln differs only in that he is entirely evil, with absolutely no moral core. Will kill abundently and pointlessly, wherever and whenever possible. Some varients sport glowing red eyes. Often roars "RAAARGH!" as he attacks. Their motivations and aims remain unknown, as anyone attempting to analyse them is normally murdered brutally and repeatedly. Some eyewitnesses claim Robotic Evil Lincolns exist, but this is unlikely and scary.

I don't see a Bil Clinton cigar on the that list.

I have some weird "campaign pennies" from the late 60's early 70's. They are pennies set in tin circles with the candidates name on them. Can't remember who, can't check it because they are in the lock box with the rest of the coins, but since I got them from dad, they have to be Democrat.

Don't bother. He was a Republican.

People actually believe that they're buying a piece of Kennedy's or Lincoln's hair?

Rude Turnip 2008-07-17 04:04:25 PM
Only $150 for Lincoln's bloodied hair...that's actually not too bad of a price for something like that.

Those will really cost you. They're very rare, and they're NIB.

After some Googling, this guy selling the hair seems to actually be well regarded with collectors.

The wifey and I actually own some Richard Nixon 1968 bubblegum cigars -- the slogan: "Win With Dick" (about halfway down here). The wifey also owns some "Lick Dick" anti-Nixon pine from 1968; come on, when you've got a guy like Nixon and his name is 'Dick', you can't help but use that to your advantage.

In that link above, just below the Nixon cigars, are soap babies from the McKinley election...they're creepy as hell.

It's okay, kellyshannon, Republicans in those days are more politically aligned with the Democrats of today.

/of course, that may not matter if you're not a Democrat either.

Probably less than bird shot from Harry Whittington's face.
