You're not Quebecois or French. You're Canadian. Get over yourselves.

I love the Queebs--without them the US would have a monopoly on batshiat crazy nationalism in North America.

farking Quebecois, always sneaking over our border at night to steal our trees.

Well, to be fair, they're annoyed that he's playing a show commemorating Quebec City's 400th anniversary, but that doesn't make it any less crazy. He's Paul Freakin' McCartney, vous sacs des douches.

It's sad when real news sounds like a Onion article.

I'm sure if they asked nicely he could learn Alouette in time for the concert.

The ridiculous number of Beatles lyrics thrown into that article made my cheese-o-meter explode.

He can just sing that bad French bit from Michelle over and over. Maybe that would shut 'em up.

i love these people...

"I like Paul McCartney but, given the context, this is the straw that breaks the camel's back," said Curzi, referring to what he called the "Canadianization" of Quebec City's 400th-birthday celebrations.
yeah... ummmm, quebec city is in canada. how can it possibly be more "canadianized'?

They won't be happy until Canada has only French as it's official language. Having two national languages clearly means they're being persecuted.

Came in to comment on the assload of retardedness of Quebec. I can see it's been taken care of. Carry on.

He's Paul Freakin' McCartney, vous sacs des douches.

The frenchman (from Orlean) where I work says even the french despise the quebecois.

To me that speaks volumes.

FTA: "His music isn't just music, it is also the lyrics, lyrics that are in English,"

Also FTA: The other act to feature Sunday will be the Stills, a Montreal rock band that also got the nod from McCartney.

And finally, lyrics from Montreal band The Stills:

And you don't seem to miss me
And you're eyes sag
So don't make a goddamn sound
I'm coming to your town

I will destroy you
Your soul impedes on mine
Let go my free will
I can't stand compromise
Only when you're dead
I'll make you mine

And the arrows are pointed
And the archer's delighted
The thrill, the smell
The shiat I've been put through
An angel to no one
I hate you and you're blood
So don't make a goddamned sound
Cause I'm coming
To your town

GOD DAMN PAUL MCCARTNEY!

I didn't type up those lyrics, I copy/pasted, so I take no claim for the grammatical errors therein.

FTA:

"Nobody criticizes Celine Dion for singing in Paris, in Munich, in England or anywhere else around the world," [Premier Jean Chares] said.

Not so fast there, Sparky. Show of hands: Who else thinks Celine Dion should be confined to Quebec?

That is kinda old news to me, one of the people cited used to be the head of the artists' union, so his former org is not getting any money from a show like this...

Quebec sovereignists have been losing serious credibility for the last 10 years. Their arguments fail the logic test but none of the press will actually point it out since it's nearly a monopoly.

Most people are not ready to pay the price to be their own country, mostly the "exports will Fark up", "trade agreements won't be transferable", "oil money from the west is helping us" or the "the rest of canada will not let us use their currency, so we'll have to print our own crappy one" parts.

Hardcore sovs are also known for their racism (and "languism") and their sympathies with terroristic separatist movements elsewhere. (ETA in spain, Hamas).

As a Canadian, I'd like to tell Quebec to farking get with the program. Look at Switzerland, they've done alright having different official languages and ethnicities combining as one country, figure it out for farks sake or GTFO.

Don't bash the entire province due to a few rabble-rousing racists decide that nothing but farm-raised Quebecers are acceptable.

80% of the province is in mid-facepalm due to this stupidity.

I'm offended by Paul McCartney on general principle. Once again, the Quebecois have the right idea.

I live in Ottawa (capital city of Canada, bordering Quebec) and not a day goes by that we don't hear of some French farker complaining about language. My favourite story from years ago involved a French woman who complained that a Quebec pet store was selling a parrot that only spoke English.
