I'm going to have to get that for Pinball Wizard and Aqualung alone.

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 09:33:08 PM
I am kind of indifferent to Rock Band 1, but Rock Band 2 sounds amazing.

Rebel Girl by Bikini Kill was my favourite song as a teenager, and it's still in my all-time top 10. Plus, Psycho Killer by Talking Heads and Give It Away by RHCP? And Blondie, Duran Duran, Interpol, Sonic Youth and Guess Who's American Woman?

This set list is insanely good?

Apparently I am answering in the form of a question.

I would have like to see "suck my left one" instead, but oh well

bobbette [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 10:11:01 PM
Reject All American would be awesome too. They should just have Rock Band: Kathleen Hanna.

bugenhagen [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 10:17:02 PM
Lots of songs to like on this list, but the one that surprised me the most because I have not heard it for so long is "De-luxe" by Lush.

Sentimental fave: Replacements.

/never played the game

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 10:17:53 PM
"Alex Chilton" is a perfect Rock Band song. I can't hardly wait to try it.

Flan 2008-07-14 10:34:32 PM
JerseyTim: "Alex Chilton" is a perfect Rock Band song. I can't hardly wait to try it.

That song alone makes me wish I had this game.

And a console to play it on.

And some friends to play it with.

You know what, forget Rock Band. I'm gonna go listen to Pleased To Meet Me.

You sound like you should be listening to "If Only You Were Lonely" instead!

GreenAdder [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 10:48:34 PM
I'm not sure if the average gamer will even begin to understand or appreciate Bikini Kill.

CrazyCarl864 2008-07-14 11:07:53 PM
And I thought Freezepop on the original guitar hero was the most unusual band I'd see on a game like that. Guess I was wrong.

/Seriously, Bikini Kill?
//Who decides this kind of stuff?

DarKrow 2008-07-14 11:11:04 PM
DEVO! I Must Buy This.

Passive Aggressive Larry [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 11:15:38 PM
Hell yeah, Dinosaur Jr, Dylan, Pearl Jam, this game just might be worth forking over 150 bucks.

shadowself 2008-07-14 11:15:48 PM
I'll post this before the asshats get here:

PsyLord 2008-07-14 11:24:39 PM
Ok, that's quite a mix of stuff on that set list. I'll have to get it when it comes out just for my Randy Marsh rendition of Kansas' "Carry On Wayward Son".

/Hotlinked!

Lollipop165 2008-07-14 11:24:50 PM
That sounds like my mix tape from 1994.

/loved Dinosour Jr.

MIGGO 2008-07-14 11:32:50 PM
Joan Jett, Journey, Elvis Costello, Mastodon, Megadeth, Bon Jovi, AND Survivor?!? Awesome. So Awesome.

I really, really, REALLY would like to see Black Diamond from KISS on there or ANYTHING from Queen. Hopefully someone will make this happen.

inglixthemad [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 11:32:55 PM
Now if they had The Descendants, Concrete Blonde, or the Rollins Band I'd be impressed.

JerseyTim [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 11:34:33 PM
Portland, Oregon is still my Rock Band dream song.

RckPngn [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 11:36:36 PM
Hello two summers ago with some illict drug that starts with H and bikini kill!

/quit two years ago too!
//Don't judge me!

GBmanNC 2008-07-14 11:40:14 PM
Megadeth AND Metallica? Can someone show me where to suck harmonix's penis? The setlist is alittle disappointing though, I enjoy extremely challenging stuff, pretty much only play tier 7,8,9 stuff, and alot of this looks alittle easy. But I already have a nice list of DLC content that will carry over to GH 2 for my extreme strumming needs. But allowing all the RB songs (on disk) to be transfered over? farking awesome. Harmonix really does seem serious when they say they want it to be a platform.

And guitar hero getting the new metallica album... yeah you go right ahead activision. And add St. Anger while your add it...

/add Master of Puppets album Harmonix and I'll do anal, srsly.

safemammal 2008-07-14 11:40:24 PM
Sounds good, but I'm still gonna hold out for "Marching Band"

GBmanNC 2008-07-14 11:47:46 PM
And if anyone was interested, the Guns N Roses song is actually a Buckethead song (he was in GnR for a short time).

sorebones 2008-07-14 11:51:34 PM
Dinosaur Jr is my favorite band in the whole wide world. There's a ton of songs better than Feel the Pain, but whatever.

//really had to resist going for the "'s cool with me".

Sir Vanderhoot 2008-07-14 11:53:55 PM
Most awesome part: All from Master recordings.

/'Any Way You Want It'
//Fark yes. I predict this will mix well with beer.

jso2897 2008-07-14 11:53:55 PM
What, no Sun Ra?

how do you press your guitar up against the amp to play Sonic Youth?

/likes Sonic Youth.
/what, no haters? Surely someone wants to tell us about how they saw them open for Pearl Jam and how they sucked...

Awesome

darkjezter 2008-07-15 12:04:54 AM
It's about damn time they put some AC/DC in a music game.

Now, if only somebody would make a music game with Led Zeppelin...

snake_beater 2008-07-15 12:10:44 AM
Judas Priest: "Painkiller"
Megadeth: "Peace Sells"
Metallica: "Battery"

Time to get a backup drum controller... *sigh*

BigSnatch [TotalFark] 2008-07-15 12:14:51 AM
Testament.

I may have to save a little more money this fall.

kanesays 2008-07-15 12:20:17 AM
JerseyTim: Portland, Oregon is still my Rock Band dream song.

Brilliant tune, my favorite song of the last year.

//IF that ain't love, I don't know what is....Uh-Huh.

On another note, just glad Westerberg is finally getting some recognition. And a little coin.

Pyynk 2008-07-15 12:36:28 AM
Missing in action are:

Led Zeppelin (even if it's the As Made Famous By Players)
The Cure
Bauhaus
Siouxsie Sioux
Love and Rockets

When you have a clothes area named "Goth" and don't include any "Goth" bands in your game list, it's kinda irritating. Hell, I'd even be happy with a small Goth outfit like the Awakening.

Still, there's an amazing level of depth in Rock Band 2's offering and I'll damn sure be ready when they release that bad boy for the PS3.

Gangway Fathead 2008-07-15 12:40:48 AM
Sigh. I knew it was going to be "Pump it Up" but I looked anyway.

Still, some cool tracks on there. Should be fun.

Alamo_Melt 2008-07-15 12:48:02 AM
So is it the "Rebel Girl" from the first lp (or the 2nd whatever), "Wussy" Whipped, or the version with Joan Jett that's on the 7" in my living room???!

I don't know what Rock Band 2 is really, but get me a copy and get off my lawn.

bigd29 2008-07-15 12:49:04 AM
FTFA AFI: "Girl's Gone Grey"

There is no such song.

Girl's Not Grey however...

A continuation of the first Rock Band game, basically simulating your very own rock and roll lifestyle. Would you like to learn more? (new window)

Mr. Chainsaw 2008-07-15 01:01:55 AM
As much as I love Bikini Kill, they're an odd choice for a game like this. I mean, their playing style was pretty much "turn up the amps, bash on two or three chords, and scream your head off." Not that there's anything wrong with that.

Fraggler [TotalFark] 2008-07-15 01:42:30 AM
Now if only the game was cracked and there was an app out there to convert midis into playable Rock Band tracks. I'd never leave the house.

therumblefish 2008-07-15 01:52:19 AM
Dinosaur Jr. is awesome, but there are definately better songs they could have picked than Feel The Pain.

/I would buy the whole thing just to play "Out There"

Sonic Youth sucks balls. They steal from Peter Frampton's cooler.

jwrebholz 2008-07-15 02:20:40 AM
That is beyond a doubt one of the most eclectic song lists I've ever seen in my life.

It could make Rock Band playable. I have to admit some of the features are killer--being able to play RB1 songs, being able to keep downloaded RB1 tracks for RB2, that's awesome.

And they can't include Zeppelin. Not even a cover. They have to get a license for that, and they can't get one. They were lucky to get AC/DC.

darkjezter 2008-07-15 03:49:25 AM
Fraggler: Now if only the game was cracked and there was an app out there to convert midis into playable Rock Band tracks. I'd never leave the house.

Get Guitar Hero World Tour. It's going to have guitars, drums, and vocals just like Rock Band 2 does, but it will also have a feature that allows you to create your own songs and even share them with other users online for free.

I predict that shortly after GHWT comes out, the online service will be flooded with instrumental-only versions of songs from Led Zeppelin, AC/DC, the Beatles, etc.

jwrebholz: I'd guess that AC/DC sees where the money in the music industry is coming from these days. (Hint: It's not anywhere that's going to their pockets .. they've been idle for what a decade now?)

Hooray for L7! Poo poo for Sonic Youth.

The Dynamite Monkey 2008-07-15 07:44:33 AM
Replacements on RB2! My old ass is HAPPY -- although I would have preferred "LOTD" or "Bastards"

Kaeishiwaza 2008-07-15 08:15:32 AM
The two songs I wanted to see were:

Just by Radiohead
Song for the Dead by Queens of the Stone Age.

I'm not complaining, though. I'm going to snap this up on day one!
