....and so another case where Corporate sells out, runs for the hills with their loot and leaves America wondering what it still owns, and lastly, Joe employee to wonder where his next drink will be coming from...but all of that will be lost with the yuk yuks...

Americans are a bunch of greedy, arrogant pigs. They deserve this.

Then again maybe the beer lobby will force Congress to lower the drinking age to sixteen.

I'll stick with PBR or Colt 45.

I quit drinking beer (and alcohol in general) years ago. AB products
were my beer of choice, but, I wouldn't touch it now.
I'm sure after this deal is inked, you will see some shrewd marketing from the competition, "proudly owned in the USA" commercials.

Maybe some of you hicks will stop all the flag waving yourself now that your beer god has left you with a headache and the runs.

Maybe American companies should focus on making "the best quality of goods possible at the lowest cost possible, paying the highest wages possible" so that they can remain competitive in a global market.

//InBev is buying the brand, nothing more.

I remember when I visited Bush Gardens and went to their "Beer School", where they talked up a storm about how Miller is such crap because it's owned by Canadians. My the times have turned.

pnhfitz: "Anheuser Busch InBev" is the best they could come up with?

Isn't there a joke about that? An old lady goes into a bar and asks the bartender for a beer. "Anheuser Busch" he asks? "It's fine" she replies. "How's your schlong?"

I suppose the joke will change to an old dyke goes into a bar and asks for a beer. "Anheuser Busch InBev" the bartender asks? "It's great, but Bev's away for a couple of days" she replies.

Here all week, etc. etc. etc.

its all my dad drinks and tastes like sour water. im not big on beer, preferring wine (or hard liquor), but that stuff is a sad excuse for an alcoholic beverage.

This should make for an interesting science experiment: is Belgian beer good enough to lift up crappy American beer, or is the stink from Bud so great that even Bass and Stella Artois could fall to it?

Time will tell.

Big Daddy Fat Cat 2008-07-13 09:59:07 PM
I read an article yesterday that said AB was suffering losses and floundering from competition from so called "designer brews".

Who cares? MADD is a bunch of whiner, post-menopausal, temperance women who lost their children to drunks over the age of 21 and they blame teenagers for this crap.

waiting4godot 2008-07-13 10:00:03 PM
InBev is a publicly traded company. No doubt many Americans will continue to own stock -- and therefore a 'piece' of the company.

I wonder how many farkers know who really "owns" companies..

Who owns Ben and Jerry's?

Burger King?

Godiva Chocolate?

The answer to each of those three might well surprise you.

I'm pretty much getting apathetic about the whole thing. I don't drink this crappy beer anyway, so why should I care? Just as long as they don't change the commercials I'm good. :)

hmt3 2008-07-13 10:00:54 PM
So does this mean there's no more "Veterans, please stand up" before the Shamu shows at Sea World? Or will they unload the three Sea World parks to Six Flags?

Seriously, AB does a lot of quiet animal work behind-the-scenes. Who's gonna care about the critters now?

Selling to the highest bidder and maximizing shareholder profit just happens to be VERY AMERICAN, you commie.

/does not own stock

//I like Amber Bock. The rest is probably swill (its been years since I had Bud)

Well, on the other side of the market it is MillerCoors or CoorsMiller. We can all agree that executives have to be some of the least creative people when it comes to naming things. They pay those marketing people so much money, it should continue to name the business.
