So wait...they shot it with tranqs...then drained the pool? Wouldn't putting it out cause it to drown?

As JonnyBGoode hinted, the animal in my pool trifecta is in play.

Why did they have to drain the pool to get him out?

FTA: Mr Stewart, a company director, added: "My family and I stood back and let the emergency services do all the work.

"I don't think they were terribly pleased with us - we stood in the garden with glasses of wine and shouted unhelpful suggestions."

What's his Fark name?

I'm no expert, but I imagine it's easier to get a sling under a standing bull than it is a swimming one.

pecosdave [TotalFark] 2008-07-13 08:37:26 PM
Gosh, I guess draining the pool and using a crane would be a lot easier than just piling up the sand bags most fire departments have on hand and building a ramp........

Dinjiin [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-07-13 08:38:46 PM
Interesting that the only method to get out of the pool is to use a ladder.

My local municipality has several rules governing the depth, slope and exit access of swimming pools. I was required to have a swallow end with a maximum depth, as well as having steps that went down to that depth. Any animal that made their way into my pool could easily get out.

Given the commonality of safety rules in the UK, I am surprised they don't have similar rules.

/works just as well for drunk party guests that might jump in
//too busy laughing at them to give a hand
///if you loose a shoe, you get to grab the pole and fish it out yourself

StoneColdAtheist 2008-07-13 08:40:59 PM
I like Mr. Stewart already, and I haven't even met him.

/hey, it's after 5 here...methinks it's time for a glass of wine
//no bull in the pool, but I could unhelpful suggestions into the kitchen
///on second thought, I'd better not

Mr. Right 2008-07-13 08:41:31 PM
A two year old bull of the Hereford breed (which this one appears to be) that only weighs 1000 pounds should have been thrown back. He's too small to keep. On the other hand, if you want to see how well he can get out of that pool all on his own, just stand a cow in heat at one end and get out of the way.

/I like my english beef with yorkshire pudding.

It looks like the nanny state excels at turning a simple deal into an all-day affair. Sling method looked very crude and possibly hard on the animal.

Get a ramp, put ramp in pool, use bucket of cow treats to lure bull up ramp.

While neighbours, friends and family crowded round to watch the drama unfold, six firemen from the Fife brigade joined a local vet to help rescue the hapless party animal...
