We've never been closer to the sun burning out or the release of Duke Nukem Forever.

/both would have improved your headline

You know, we're pretty close to Alpha Centauri too, I mean, as opposed to a star in another galaxy across the universe.

as opposed to the last time we were this close

Its our own fault politicans of all stripes say this kind of thing. We demand comforting words and punish uncomfortable truths.

Olmert's words in the headline is actually true, not bullshiat.

Olmert's about to go to prison for a very long time and will say pretty much anything to maintain worldwide interest in him. He was stalking Assad throughout Paris, trying to get a photo with him.
If you doubt me, think back to Lebanon II.

mfaby 2008-07-13 04:16:14 PM
Well if he means that literaly then he is offering MORE than 95% of what Arafat (that terrorist POS) was offered ten years ago.

HAMAS, et. al. needs to be destroyed because it's the political parties of the PALIS have been caused the peace process to stop, not the Israelis.

I'm waiting for the Fark headline:

Oil goes to $150/barrel on news of Peace in the Middle East

/damn oil prices

Olmert's indictment is closer too. Damn crook.

EsteeFlwrPot 2008-07-13 04:36:35 PM
It's really nice outside. How about we all meet up and go out for some ice cream and drinks? We can celebrate peace in the middle east or something.

You're an idiot.

I submitted the Yahoo article with a better headline.

The end of Olmert's political career has never been closer.

GoodasGold 2008-07-13 05:24:38 PM
"The obliteration of the palis has never been closer. Then we shall finally have peace."

Gyrfalcon [TotalFark] 2008-07-13 08:19:52 PM
Of course, it's also true that "A peace deal has never been farther away."

And that "Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches could win the war on terror." Or that "The Prius is the best car of the last 10,000 years."

Or that "Space aliens travel in vehicles that look just like street lights."

You know, this has been done before, with a better headline. It crops up every few months because someone is obviously just reposting the same story.

I mean, they can't really be this bad with diplomacy, right?

/Broken record, this issue is.
//Never gonna stop.

The PLO was declared an evil terrorist organization, Israel again and again said "we cannot negotiate, they are terrorists!"

Finally, after years'n'years they negotiated (in part due to American pressure) and stuff. Lots of money went to the PLO.

Hamas won elections because the PLO became corrupt and was using all the money on itself rather than the people. It won primarily on a platform of less corruption.

Hamas is declared an evil terrorist organization, Israel again and again says "we cannot negotiate, they are terrorists!"

I'm going back to comic books, the secret invasion of the Skrull religious zealots makes more sense than the local brand or retard...

mrexcess [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 12:21:51 AM
Sounds pretty spot-on in the short term, but I'm less convinced that the Iraq war, or for that matter the middle east's problem of religious extremism, ought to be seen as a result of a Cold War interregnum.

In any case... here's hoping for peace.

The PLO are still terrorists. All the last attacks were by Fatah and not Hamas.

here, allow me to google for you.

Is this news to you ? how surprising.

mrexcess [TotalFark] 2008-07-14 10:56:06 AM
News for me would be Fatah/Al Aqsa being responsible for terrorist attacks. I'm less surprised, although still dismayed, to see that they're trying to claim credit after the fact.

They are responsible. Both the israelis and the palestinians know it and Fatah's military wing openly admit it while Hamas, at this point, do anything in their power to stop attacks coming from Gaza.

The fact that you choose to ignore facts that even delusional morons would see says a lot about you.
