Take away everything they own and sell it at auction till they have it all paid off. Then give them a good beating. It sad that we can no longer have a big party as we watch them get lynched in the city anymore. You can't even covered the young ones with the blood. I miss the old days.

The group of youths jumped the chain-link fence that surrounds the city's Public Service Department lot at 601 E. South St. about 3:20 a.m., said Sgt. Steve Relyea of Lansing's North Precinct.

Police said they arrested four boys, ages 12, 13, 14 and 16. A witness said several more kids likely were involved.

So was the 16 year babysitting the others while the parent were out of town for the night? Guess those parents won't hire the 16 year old to babysit again.

This happened where I worked once. I worked as a mechanic, and the parking lot was fenced in. The owner of the place used to leave the keys in all the vehicles over night.

One night, the local kids had a demolition derby using all the customer's cars.

How much do you want to bet that these kinds get off without regretting it at all? Kids don't learn respect anymore. Accountability may as well be sticken from the dictionary; it's a meaningless word anymore.

tonesskin [TotalFark] 2008-07-13 02:06:56 PM
The thing that annoys me about this is that their parents paid tax money to help purchase those trucks. If they paid for the trucks, they should be allowed to use them as they see fit. They are public vehicles. The teens are members of the public. Simple. So stop being judgmental assholes.

If my kids did this I would force them to do community service with the city at $7/hr payback wage, they wont be done for years. Kid still refuses to learn then he wont be getting any cool toys, and at 16, his first car wont exist. Then again there is always military school.

Since smacking the hell out of them is viewed as "harsh" by the courts, very few options are left.

I am sure all that will happen is probation for a year and possibly not being able to get their license until they are 18 or some such matter.

I grew up in a rural southern community. My friends and I were some well known skateboarding vandals. Keep in mind this story is before cameras all over government buildings and public places. Any way two of my friends snuck up to the top of the county courthouse. They waited until the place was "locked up". They hopped in the elevator and absolutely trashed it, lights hanging out of the ceiling, panels torn off of the walls. They were riding it back up and were going to sneak out from the rooftop maintenance ladders. Well, they get to the top floor and the elevator stops, the doors open and there getting on the elevator is the Circuit Court Judge, putting in a few 'extra hours'. Anyway he must have been doing something he didn't want anyone to find out about. He gets on the elevator like there is nothing wrong, pushes the ground floor button rides the elevator down with my friends never saying a word. Lets them walk out of the front door with them locks up the courthouse, and proceeds to his expensive European sports car. My friends went back to their house and waited. No charges were never filed.

/Quid pro quo I guess

This yard is right along the river trail so it's not hard to imagine how they came up with the idea. I'm still trying to figure out what to do with the dozens of electric poles that are stored on the fence line. (giant "Huck Finn" raft?)

Yeah, shocking. I got most of my lifetime education in Australia, though, and I'm working on my Masters at the moment.

I try not to associate too much with the rest of the MSU rabble. The Criminal Justice program is very good, though. Top 10 in the country, I believe. I'm thoroughly enjoying it. Plus, campus is absolutely gorgeous in the summer. I just got home from a picnic with my dad, boyfriend and dogs on the banks of the river. Very civilized!

No kidding, wow. An example:

It was right out of lord of the fly's! These kids are lucky to be alive and unhurt! some were younger than thoses caught! They run together there's around 15 of them on a regular basis running the local tracks! and raising cane every day around here! This time they went to far! With all that said I'm just glad they weren't hurt! It's easy to get out of controll when older kids hang with the younger ones, there easy to talk into things that they shouln't be doing! Allowing 9 and 10 year olds to run the streets at 3:00 am in my book that's child indangerment and shoud be handled as such! When I went home I hugged my grand kids and told them just how much I love them! Make sure your childern have plenty to do! Spend time with your kids before they spend time without you! They are the future!

Not if they are in Michigan and under age. 10pm for 12 and under, Midnight for 12-15. Has not seen it put to a test here in Michigan on any constitutional grounds but I think any challenge would fail. Since I believe this falls under states rights.

guesser 2008-07-13 03:06:37 PM

These kids don't fark around. When I was 14 I was busted twice for joyriding, "Taking a motor vehicle w/o the owners consent". But I would have never intentionally smashed them, nor shown such blatant disregard for getting busted. Either they have huge balls, or these kids are just plain stupid.

I'm not sure that's entirely true. Many cities have curfews for juveniles. It's a status offense. Like truancy or possession of tobacco products. Being out too late or not going to school is not an offense for an adult, but it is a juvenile.

Federal District courts have upheld the sanctions given to curfew violators numerous times.

To the morans (I saw at least two) who said cheap trucks; 8333 average in REPAIRS.
Also, it says estimated at LEAST 50k.
It says they were unusable not beyond repair
