FTFA: State Rep. Ellyn Bogdanoff, R- Fort Lauderdale, was blunt: Republicans need to do a better job.

The registration numbers "got my attention; I'll be calling our party chairman this afternoon," she said.

So...she just realized this now?

Rush has it all in hand.

I really really doubt this. The Methuselahs of Florida will push McCain wayyy over the top there. All the latest polling I've seen puts it around 80-20 for McCain.

Assuming Republican voters pride themselves on registering and voting (1), it's possible there is a much larger pool of presently unregistered Democratic-leaning voters(2), so Obama has more potential new voters to work on than McCain. If newly registered voters are under-counted in the registered voter and likely voter polls (3), it might mean Obama's lead is significantly larger than it currently appears.

The above is based on my understanding that (1) upper-income, conservatives and whites register and vote in higher percentages than other segments of the electorate and that this is the Republican core support...(2)lower income, liberal and minorities register and vote in lower percentages than other segments of the electorate and that this would be a favorable target group for Obama...and (3) that the mechanics of including the numbers and proportions of these new registers would create a lag in their appearing in poll results.

Executive Summary: McCain is screwed.

As global warming warms the globe globally this will happen. They'll get used to the heat and start voting Republican and blaming the French for their problems by 2012.

Karl Rove's "permanent majority" was just a move to convince the religious right to support the Bush administration's greedy cash grab. Basically the Bush administration doesn't care at all if it broke the Republican Party for the next 8 years, because they and their friends all got paid.

Good job Bush apologists.

FTFA:

Acknowledging it's a "tough climate," Cindy Guerra said John McCain supporters shouldn't despair.

"At the end of the day people will wake up and say, 'Gosh, you know what? I would not have open-heart surgery with an intern at a hospital. I would really want that doctor who's been there and has the experience,'" said Guerra, vice chairwoman of the Broward Republican Party
.

Ugh. We'll never hear the end of these kind of fallacious arguments out of the Repubs, will we?
You're comparing apples to oranges there, Cindy. Keep up the good work.

I don't think Obama can take FL, but if he just narrows the gap enough to frighten McCain into spending more time and money there, it is still a victory.

Registering as whatever doesn't mean anything for a general election.

Besides, Florida isn't one of the 6 or 7 states that Obama will win in November.

when the time comes those truculent old cows will line up behind obama

though i think this will still more or less happen, I am a bit worried. In theory, Hillary's legion of Girl Power will line up behind Obama once McCain's voting history on abortion, birth control, etc. become more public... but this assuming Hillary's supporters closely follow news/media/politics, something they clearly don't do if they were supporting Hillary that far.

Then they'll understand after they elect McCain and see our country go even further down the tubes. I want to see Obama elected in November, but I've got my money on a 2012 all-out revolution if McCain gets elected. (If not before then!)

She was actually a pretty good congresswoman though. Far better than the race-baiting, carpet-bagging, moron we have in there now. It's one of the great ironies about her, because she did do a lot for her district, and not just for the rich people--she did a lot for the rural and minority voters who most of our politicians ignore.

They'll notice if Hillary points it out to them. That's one thing I'll give her, she's been a pretty good sport about losing the nomination. She's gotten some respect back for that.

It's the same dynamic as when Conservatives vowed to stay home on election day when John McCain won the nomination. Now they're crawling back, tail between their legs, mumbling "well, at least he's not Obama, the most Liberal Liberal ever!"

rynthetyn 2008-07-13 01:39:57 PM
As a Florida Republican, I can say with some certainty that the party leaders are extremely worried about holding the state. I'm not seeing a lot of enthusiasm for McCain, and they're losing supporters to Bob Barr.

My sister goes to the county Young Republican's meetings despite supporting Obama, and said that at the last meeting, the supervisor of elections spoke and happened to mention that he's getting far more new registrations by Democrats than Republicans. After he left, the county chairwoman got up and started insisting that it wasn't really the case, she'd been busy registering voters, but my sister said it was pretty clear that she was worried and trying to put on a positive face for everybody else.

/Me? I'm one of those Florida Republicans who's voting Obama
//Not switching registration though

Softens_hands_while_you_do_the_dishes 2008-07-13 01:44:09 PM
It'll be close but the traditionally republican cubans plus the once in a lifetime voting republican white jewish folk should put McCain over the top. True a lot of Haitians have managed to get in, but not sure there is yet enough to turn that tide up the Florida west coast and on to Alabama. Go Tide!

/I report with a reverse Yahoo news kind o slant. Got to keep it real

Let us hope this will be a lesson to Machiavellian political manipulators. Let us hope American politicians get the idea that when you align yourself with extremists, religious or otherwise, when you blatantly and publicly try to steal an American election, when you put psychopaths and idiots in the White House to lead the American nation, that Americans will eventually figure you out and stop voting for your party. Let us hope.

Yeah, Limbaugh is much like the Hilaryis44 people, in that he way seiously overestimates his own influence. It is amusing, though, that the draft-dodging, pill-popping, boy-humping fat fark gave his misguided little plan a military name like Operation Chaos.

Actually, I think it's a reference to the fact that Florida and Michigan weren't counted in the primaries because they broke the rules the OBAMA FASCISTS are trying to suppress the will of the voters and steal the nomination from Hillary, the POPULARLY ELECTED candidate.
