Was it battery powered? Because I keep thinking of a guy stopping every few feet to tug the extension cord.

I'll vote for appropriate use of the img1.fark.net tag on this one Earl.

A reciprocating saw would have been a bit more threatening...cordless, of course.

Which would not be terrible if it was actually a photo of the perp with the drill, or the gas station, or the Home Depot, or anything related to the story.

I can attest that tampabays10.com likely does have a stock photo of a drill, a Home Depot, and a Gas station, in their fuzzy, quality 10% jpeg quality goodness. ;)

I contend that there are laws against being stupid, except they are in the form of the laws of natural selection.

My brother worked in a hardware store and a guy tried to rob it. Fark: With a knife

Within seconds, the manager wacked him across the knees with an ax handle..End of robbery..

/Moral of story: Don't rob hardware stores
//everything is a weapon there...

On the other hand....

Many years ago (before we had an alarm system) we had a break-in at our hardware store. They used every farkin tool in the store to bust open our safe. When we opened the store in the morming we found two or three hammers, some crowbars, chisels, couple of flashlights, a drill and some dish towels (to deaden the sound of hammering?), all laying on the floor around the destroyed safe. So don't rob a hardware store during the day, but at night it's a well-equipped place.

I'm really getting a kick out of this thread because I work there.

That guy must have really been a badass... Most of the guys in my store (myself included) wouldn't be intimidated by an average sized guy with any of the cordless drills that we sell. If two or three of us were handy, we'd take on pretty much anyone without a gun.

/not being an internet tough guy.
//has spent long years dragging people out of stores.
///misses the days before cameras and laws protecting criminals.
////overdue to serve an asskicking.

So did they get the money, or what? Just askin'. I too, work in a hardware store...a fortress of defense or a playground for thieves. Reminds me of a thread last week. HD in FL also. Coincidence?...I think "NO"! Screw HD

Alls I know is - if I'd taken a random pointless cellphone photo of a SUV and lightpole with police tape, and it was used like this, I'd be stoked. I'd put it on my business card.

Yeah, they got the money. But it was only about $1500 as we deposit all the cash every night. So all that was in the safe was money for making change, lots of singles, fives, quarters, etc. The safe was worth almost as much as the money inside.

And fark Agent Orange.
