Damn, that's very sad. Best to his family.

Pocket Ninja [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:36:39 AM
Wow. So young. I'd just been thinking that he hadn't really been in the news lately.

log_jammin [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:36:40 AM
I had no idea he had cancer

MorrisBird [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:36:44 AM
Dancin_In_Anson:WTF?

They're young, they're stupid and insensitive. This does not mean that they should not be shot on sight, but still. Once again, RIP, cancer sucks.

smooshie [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:37:32 AM
At 53? That's terrible :(

RIP Funnyman.

GoDeep [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:38:09 AM
I'll say it in this thread, too: Godspeed, Tony.

ZAZ [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:38:47 AM
I kind of liked the conspiracy theory headline that followed.

Unhip1 [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:39:08 AM
Tony Snow didn't get USED half as much as MacClellan and the new Spokesperson. He was a good reporter, and it's a shame he died so young....farking cancer...

RIP Tony...you did the best you could...

MIKELIVE [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:40:06 AM
What a great communicator and I used to love to listen to him get into arguments with the press. Rest in peace.

That_Bob_Guy 2008-07-12 07:40:44 AM
A likable guy, if you strip him of all the politics, that is. He was a good dad, he didn't come home drunk and beat his wife, he stood up for what he believed in.

Even though it was not what I believed in, that's okay. It doesn't make him a villin.

My heart goes out to his family.

Tony Snow, the former White House press secretary and conservative pundit who bedeviled the press corps and charmed millions as a FOX News television and radio host, has died after a long bout with cancer from four self-inflicted gunshot wounds to the back of the head.

/No, I don't know what I'm trying to imply.

Jesus, can you I know it's popular to hate on the Bushies, but keep it civil please.

RIP Tony

That you're a complete asshat? Because, you've accomplished that.

crashman6 2008-07-12 07:45:11 AM
Couldn't much stand the Snowjob, but death by cancer is not something I would wish on anyone.

My sympathies to his family.

Jewronimo 2008-07-12 07:45:14 AM
RIP Tony.

IAmTheLaw 2008-07-12 07:45:34 AM
I'd say he was the only sincere and interesting guy in the Bush administration. I always like his interviews after he left the White House and he was definitely a very smart guy.

RIP Tony Snow.

nictamer 2008-07-12 07:45:49 AM
My thought go to the victims of the Iraq war, or those who die because they can't afford healthcare. Not to war criminals' mouthpiece.

"They're young, they're stupid and insensitive. This does not mean that they should not be shot on sight, but still."

That describes Snow, alright.

"He was a good dad, he didn't come home drunk and beat his wife, he stood up for what he believed in."

If not beating your spouse is all it takes to be a good father then sign me up!

slackist [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:48:41 AM
I am sad to say that I am almost at the point where my cynicism welcomes the death of people associated with the Bush administration.

Almost, but not quite. I still have my humanity; and I offer my condolences to his family and fans and friends.

MorrisBird [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:49:05 AM
Snow is survived by his wife, Jill Ellen Walker, whom he married in 1987, and their son Robbie and their daughters Kendell and Christie.

Attention must be paid to people like this. I am so sorry. I lost my mom when she was only 57. The pain is amazing. Best to you, Jill, Kendell, Christie and Robbie. Time helps.

Lackofname 2008-07-12 07:49:17 AM
Wow. I didn't see this coming. I mean, I thought his cancer was over.

Sad, but not that sad.

zpb52 [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:49:36 AM
In other news, Russert's pissed now because his brand new Sunday interview show has competition in Heaven.

wax_on 2008-07-12 07:49:39 AM
Yeah, he was a great journalist and spokesman. He could lie with the best of them.

The LooseCannon 2008-07-12 07:49:50 AM
One less tell-all book to have all-told far too late, I suppose.

I never minded Tony Snow so much as you would think...I'd say he told considerably less bullshiat as Press Secretary as he told on Fox News.

EchoMike [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:50:02 AM
My dad was 53 when he died. It happens.

/heart attack did him in
//just like Tim Russert
///Tony Snow makes news guy #3 after Tim & Jim McKay.

Thakh 2008-07-12 07:50:16 AM
Not to be insensitive but... are we coming up to a cancer trifecta?

jonewer 2008-07-12 07:50:33 AM
Good riddance to bad war criminals.

Don't spread that thought of yours too thin now, nictamer, we need your scathing wit and insight here on Fark.

/RIP Tony

I mean honestly people, this man facilitated multiple foreign interventions and the death of 4000 American troops.

d1rtfarm 2008-07-12 07:53:54 AM
Despite having no love for the administration he was an apologist for, I was thoroughly impressed with his appearance on Real Time last season. He came off as reasoned and seemed to genuinely believe what he said. So even though I found his politics to be a goddamn nightmare, I feel bad for the guy and his family.

MorrisBird [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 07:55:17 AM
How cruel are you people? A 53 year old man has died. He left a wife and small children. I did not agree with a word that came out of his mouth. I never heard a word from his wife, nor his children. My thoughts are with them. Those who are crowing about his death? You need therapy.

skylabdown 2008-07-12 07:55:44 AM
Bob Toreedo of Akron, Ohio died yesterday from colon cancer. He was 53 years old too. He wasn't famous though, so forget about him.

LeafyGreens 2008-07-12 07:56:01 AM

I will wager you don't think about anyone but yourself, and what thoughts you do have were put there by some far left professor or mentor and you have never actually thought for yourself about anything. Most people with extreme and non-nuanced views of the world are just like that.

retard 2008-07-12 07:57:10 AM
i always heard drinking the blood of dead iraqi children at midnight was the secret to eternal life and great looking skin...

Tony must have abstained.
Cheney has a healthy glow though...

Hotdog453 2008-07-12 07:57:16 AM
Someone dying does not automatically equal a tragedy, a loss of a great human being.

3_Butt_Cheeks 2008-07-12 07:58:04 AM
You can really see people's true colors in a simple thread like this. Who's just a partisan hack, who has compassion or empathy, and who are just angry bitter little SOB's.

The man worked for the Bush Admin as Press Secretary, dies of cancer leaving a wife and kids behind. How can your political hate run so deep that saying something like "he deserved it" or "he should be in hell now" etc seems reasonable to you?

Sad.

As a result of medical malpractice. Sorry about Bob. Willing to do what I can for his family.

This can not be stated enough. Would any of you approve of someone cheering for your fathers death, just because they had a differing opinion on some trivial matter?

Absolutely disgusting.

Why, he was just following orders? You know who else was just following orders?

Tell that to the people cheering about the public executions of members of Hussein's administration, those probably left wives and children behind too ;)

/Yes, the death of ANYONE is sad.
//No, I don't like double standards.

I feel very bad for people who die.
I feel very bad for people who die at a young age.
I feel very bad for people who die at a young age of cancer.
I feel very bad for people who die at a young age of familial colon cancer.
I feel very bad for people who die at a young age of familial colon cancer, leaving a wife and children behind.

That said...
I feel very angry at people who have chosen to use their obvious intellectual gifts to perpetuate a propaganda assault on the American people, which, in turn, has created thousands of people who, in their turn, have died at a young age.

Mr. Snow got his job as press secretary because he was a good propagandist, and felt that the agenda of this administration justified misrepresentation. I do not/did not share those feelings and feel that there are many other tragic deaths that have come to pass on this planet partially as a result of Mr. Snow's participation in a process gone horribly and criminally awry.
