Even with all the shaking, Ali would kick Bruce Lee's ass, provided he could get help digging him up.

/Ali vs Stan Lee would be a different fight.

How about the guy that gave 'The Happening' 4 out of five stars vs ANYONE THAT SAW THE FRIGGIN' MOVIE!

That's all fine and good, but could the Enterprise defeat a Star Destroyer?

Possibly, but the Death Star beats the Enterprise hands down.

Bah, a General Products #4 hull equipped with a Slaver stasis field would laugh at both.

this one is a fun little read. i think my favorite may have been the fight between uncle ben and aunt jemima.

Yeah, but where's the offensive capability? Even at high speed, I don't see ramming to be particularly useful. And, even so, both the Death Star and the Enterprise are capable of manipulating gravity and have tractor beam technology. Focus a gravity field through the hull and the stasis field may not even activate. If it does, a tractor beam means you put that puppy in storage or drop it in a nearby black hole or let go of it while in hyperspace.

How do you kill that which has no life?

Voltaire's "The USS Make Sh*t Up" (p) may be relevant here. (if you've never seen it, there's bonus Wil inside)

I have to go with the DnD players. Both are fed a steady diet of doritos and Mountain Dew, so that cancels out....DnD requires more effort...rolling dice and gesticulating madly when the orc hordes are getting frisky.

/never played WoW
//Not getting the 4th edition books for DnD either

C'mon man. Think. 2 ingredients vs. as many as 10? Meat vs. non-meat? There is no contest.

Long live the taco!

There's nothing to suggest that a phaser is stronger than a turbo laser cannon (they're clearly not simply laser beams.

As for the original question, What is better exercise, rolling dice or working a mouse and keyboard?

tehotherbilly 2008-07-12 09:55:44 AM
The Deathstar sucks. Do you think the crew of the Enterprise wouldn't figure out where to fire just one photon torpedo to take it down. Hell, even Janeway could figure that one out.

DnD vs. WoW? Do I have to punch myself around?

Or maybe I have to fight between my middle-aged parent self vs. my spotty teenage self.

Dungeons and Dragons dorks would get roflstomped by PVP oriented WoW nerds.

There would be no competition.

Snarfangel:Bah, a General Products #4 hull equipped with a Slaver stasis field would laugh at both.

Not sure. If the tractor beam works via gravity, they may have a very powerful weapon on their hands.

I'll take LARPers vs any of those dorks. They actually move their entire arms and legs.

I don't know about a 1v1 fight, but a large scale war? WoW players have raids, and large scale battle orientation practice. Regardless of physical ability we'd be able to focus our efforts in better places. DnD would go down..

Alas, I'm a lover, not a fighter, I'll watch the biggest slap-fight in history from a nearby rooftop.

Yes, but they also have more womenfolk to bring down the average. Also, it's easier to fight in stained sweatpants than it is in a giant turtle costume.

A larger portion of the D&D nerds would actually have weapons and even armor available to them. Their superior equipment will allow them to prevail.

Pocket Ninja [TotalFark]: That's all fine and good, but could the Enterprise defeat a Star Destroyer?

I say yes, to both. Photon Torpedos have a MUCH longer range than the weaponry on either a Star Destroyer or a Battlestar.

Prove me wrong, Nerds!

D&Ders would win. They actually get some exercise by having to carry around all those books and traveling to congregate. WOW wussies sit around and furiously masturbate at their keyboards.

Smarshmallow:Yes, but they also have more womenfolk to bring down the average. Also, it's easier to fight in stained sweatpants than it is in a giant turtle costume.

Hmmm. I dunno, I still think Larpers got an advantage. Now, will the D&D and WoW nerds be able to summon their moms during the fight? That might change things.

We used to have these discussions at the record store I used to work at, and the ultimate scrap we could never decide on a result for was a tag team match: Jack White & Ryan Adams vs the Gallagher Bros (circa 1994).

As far as bands go, a knockout competition would end up Black Sabbath vs The Who.

In a boxing match, Ali would crush Lee. He's bigger, has better technique, and is used to taking hard hits. Probably wouldn't take too long.

In an all-out fight, Lee would win hands down. Wouldn't take long at all.

LrdPhoenix 2008-07-12 10:35:16 AM
Star Wars ships would beat Star Trek ships hands down, and I'm a Trekkie. The reason, you ask? Lucas used completely fantastical numbers for everything in the entire Star Wars universe. A short range shuttle in the Star Wars universe probably has the power output equivalent to what a star outputs in a year. Of course, Star Wars is set in a time when interstellar travel has been commonplace for tens of thousands of years, whereas Star Trek is set in a time where interstellar travel is relatively new to all the major races on the show.

tehotherbilly 2008-07-12 10:39:19 AM
Someone already mentioned D&Ders having their own homemade weapons. That is true. My friend made a piece of brest plate in metal shop, while I fashioned a long sword cut out of plate steel.
My other friend wrapped himself in a mattress for armor and used a broom handle and a shoe lace as a long bow.
Some of my friends went on to college, others did not.
