I wish I had died seven years ago and been reincarnated as one of his sons. Preferably Erol.

That's not The Pogues, it's just Shane MacGowan. And Anita Lane is also in there.

I prefer Gavin Friday's cover.

I just learned this song existed about 15 minutes ago on the train to work. I was reading "I Shot A Man in Reno," which is this new book about murder and death ballads in popular music, and thought, "Holy crap, I have got to hear this."

Thanks for reading my mind, subby.

Should I just slash my wrists now, or after I listened to this?
Or am I better off doing neither?

I haven't heard this song in forever; good find.

"Murder Ballads" is a killer (pun) album. "Stagger Lee" is a fun little track to play for the kiddies, too. Real family-oriented fun!

Not only is she a fine singer, but Kylie is also looking devastatingly hot in that video, I might add.

A poster on another board related the tale of sitting next to Nick Cave and his kids at a pantomime. Nick had a pair of giant foam hands on, and was lustily taking part in the usual panto call and response stuff. The man's a star.

Prefer the Mike Scott treatment of same from Live Adventures of the Waterboys. Which was actually recorded a year before the copyright date of Dylan's lyrics (1988). Not sure how that happened.

But always nice to see Nick Cave doing something.

The first time I heard that I was disturbed. It does grow on you though. :)

A Jew submitted this, so you should probably slash your wrists.
