Exactly

dominic:right, it's not news.

And this is exactly why FOX"News" will be showing their own edited version of the events for the next 3 days*.

*I have figured that the average FauxNews outrage can only last about 3 days without a cocaine or meth mainline injection at this point.

"People like rumors. They're going to say things like you was at the club with Lil' Kim, and you and Kanye West got into a fist fight," he said. "You can't get upset. You've got to keep hope alive."

What the hell is he talking about?

ecmoRandomNumbers:And this is exactly why FOX"News" will be showing their own edited version of the events for the next 3 days*.

Ah...only a few posts and somehow Fox News manages an early irrelevant appearance.

Suicidal Writer 2008-07-12 06:48:35 AM
"It's not funny. Let's get Barack on," a man shouted from the crowd, which paid $2,300 each to support the Illinois senator.

Bernie Mac did fail to tweak his material to suit the bourgeois audience. I don't know why he thought it would fly there.

LonMead 2008-07-12 06:54:29 AM
I think it went something like this:
"Hey, let's get Bernie Mac, he's funny."
"Have you ever seen his act?"
"No, but I caught his TV show a few times, and I think Barack likes him."
"Great! Sign him!"

Kinda like people who went to see Buddy Hackett on the basis of "The Music Man" and "The Love Bug". WAAAAYYYYY different. Or people who only know Bob Saget from "Full House". Blue is not really the word.

What does Fox News have to do with the article, or anything that happened at the event? Hmm?

What? I liked the headline. Nice use of assonance.

"MACK's" "LACK" of "TACKt" gets "FLACK" from "BaROCK"?!

CanisNoir [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 08:41:56 AM
I will laugh if this gets any play; but at the risk of being snarky, only at a Democratic Fundraiser would someone find that joke "Offensive to women" and stand up and heckle the comedian about it.

I'll laugh even harder if someone trys to give Barack flack for his "I'm just messin with ya man" statement at the end. That's right, he should have just been messing with him; the incident didn't require Mac to clean up his act.

+1 to Obama for handling it very politically
-1 to the idiot who was offended by the joke.

/hmm, that kinda makes it a wash

Am I the only idiot here who's never heard the whole joke? What's the punchline?

imfallen_angel 2008-07-12 09:29:27 AM
degehring:Am I the only idiot here who's never heard the whole joke? What's the punchline?

The version I heard was:

"My little nephew came to me and he said, 'Uncle, what's the difference between a hypothetical question and a realistic question?'" Mac said. "I said, I don't know, but I said, 'Go upstairs and ask your mother if she'd make love to the mailman for $50,000.'"

The nephew returns and say his mom responded " Hell yes!"

So I ask him to go ask his sister if she'd have sex with Brad Pit for $50,000. The nephew returns and says "She say yes too."

"So, your mother and sister are hypothetically worth $100,000, but the reality is that they are sluts."

Okay that's a little more risque than I took from the article, but I still don't find it offensive to women. (And really, aren't the people attending this by and large the ones that made fun of the Fundies for the whole Janet Jackson thing and any other 'unclean' thing they biatch about?) Still say Mac was fine.

JimStarkBand 2008-07-12 09:38:34 AM
There isn't a person in this article who wasn't over it before this was written.

I am kinda bothered that this got a greenlight. Maybe I don't understand how that greenlight works, but, having received MANY red lights, and seeing this get a greenlight...

John McCain is the biggest political pussy I"ve ever seen.
His entire campaign right now is just crying about how people are calling him old (Kerry said I was confused! That's agism!) and harassing librarians holding bush = mccain signs.

If that vagina got elected he would spend the entire temr under his desk crying about some joke Putin made.

Something I learned today: both McCain and Obama are left-handed.

I knew back in '92 that Bush, Clinton, and Perot were all left-handed. Also, Ford and Reagan were both left-handed.

I don't know what this means in the greater scheme of things.

Ahhh_Ennui [TotalFark] 2008-07-12 12:01:55 PM
I think I'd be offended if I went to an event and was ambushed by Bernie Mac. His act consists of passing off something that he read in Truly Tasteless Jokes as humor.

Actually, I'm pretty offended that Bernie Mac is considered a comedian, which implies that he's ... funny.

Is it trolling if someone actually beleives what they say? Seems to me that TROLL and FAIL have become cliche versions of I DON"T AGREE.

Your_Huckleberry:

No, it's trolling when you try to interject a comment not relevant to the subject (and in most cases, directly contradictory) in an effort to start turmoil. Believing it or not is irrelevant.

If I go into a forum where people are discussing whether Jesus appeared on a cookie and say "Jesus is a lie! Heil Satan and may the burning be slow!" it wouldn't matter if I believed it or not.

That guy came into a forum discussing a tepid and non-issue story of Bernie Mac telling a joke that fell flat at an Obama rally. NOTHING relating to McCain, in any way. Hell, nothing even discussing who has the better chance of being president. So to, for no reason and without any direct provocation (simply existing don't count), inform everyone that the crystal ball says McCain is gonna win, because... well, just cause, is trolling. To interject an irrelevant and condescending statement, no matter it's truth, is trolling.

And WE are thread-jacking. All that said... this topic was dumb before it started, so trolling and thread-jacking here are, in my opinion, only an improvement.

/You are right, in general, about the dramatic over-use of TROLL and FAIL.

You know, I really do try not to be cynical, but crap like this reminds me why politicians HAVE to pander if they want to win.

Voters are, by and large, ignorant on the issues and sensitive on them. They basically beg to be lied to and manipulated.

Humorless douches like this are perfect examples...
