god that's sad. for everyone involved.

It's a farking nightmare.

The internet has revolutionized EVERYTHING and these people don't even use it.

But hey, at least the Telecom lobbyists know what they're talking about, so we're all good, right?

you know, the thing is, legislators OFTEN get their information from lobbyists- and that's not always bad. usually there are two sides to an issue. But who's lobbying AGAINST telecom? people who have time to talk to their congressmen one on one usually aren't any more informed than the congressman is.

You don't understand! I could've been a contender. I could've had class and been president. Real class. Instead of a senator, let's face it, which is what I am. It was you, brilliant, egocentric, hypercompetitive men.

its still sad. At least the way the article reads, it says, how dare Hillary try to consider herself a real candidate, "equal to a man". She couldn't act like a real candidate because people were turned off by her acting bullish, considering it manly/unwomanly.

That's my point. There are small groups trying to lobby against telecoms, but they don't have the purse power (and therefore the ear of the congress) like telecoms do.

The media basically applied a tougher standard to Clinton than any other candidate, and that's a fact. A lot of Clinton supporters are still mad at the screwjob their candidate got from Obama and the media.

I remember when Liberals talked about ending discrimination based on gender. Talked about picking the best person for jobs. But when they had the opportunity to pick between a qualified woman and an unqualified man. The Democratic party establishment picked the unqualified man.

If that's not a huge FU to people who argue for gender equality, what is?

Man. Talk about over-analyzing.

The real question is why did anyone outside themedia and her own campaign think she was a GOOD candidate besides her name recognition?

It's not a question of how she lost, it seems to be more a question of how she came to be considered a viable candidate in the first place.

Well, that was completely wrong, and utterly sexist. Someone's trying to pin the blame for Hillary's failure on (specifically) Mark Penn, and (generally) men.

Which is interesting, since the majority of Clinton's senior campaign staff
Link (new window)
were women.

But of course, when a woman fails, it's always a man's fault.

I interned with the ACLU for a few months last year. They are really passionate about the telecom issue. I can't think of a more straightforward example of a group working "for the people." They get called communists.

Ha ha ha ha, the media basically coronated Obama. They forced Clinton out of the race and they stuck us Dems with a lemon for a nominee.

a) You are not a Democrat, so please stop referring to yourself as one. A Democrat would never vote for McCain over Obama or Clinton. If you were unhappy with the Democratic choice, you would write in your own choice, not vote for the polar goddamn opposite.
b) Obama consistently polls over McCain. That is not the definition of a lemon. If you were a Democrat, you would be happy about this.
c) Name one issue that the media hounded on against Clinton more than "GOD DAMN AMERICA", flag pins, or "for the first time in my life, I'm proud of the United States." Hint: the answer is not snipers or Ferrarro.
d) the media had nothing to do with forcing Clinton out of the race. Jesus, CNN had headlines after Clinton took Puerto Rico talking about momentum.

Media sexism was responsible. Media hatred of the Clintons was responsible.

a) Sexism played about as much of a role as did racism.
b) The Clintons were LOVED at the beginning of this race. They were hated by the end of it. There is a logical conclusion here and I'll let you figure it out for yourself.

Both Clintons blew it. Hillary spent her time attacking her opponents, rather than talking about why she should be elected. Bill shot his mouth off a few too many times and Hillary paid the price. She had absolutely everything going for her going into the race, but she spent a year trashing the competition rather than being positive. If Clinton's approach to the primaries had been the same as Obama's, we'd all be practicing saying "President Clinton 2" right now. But no, she blew it and blew it monumentally.
