The Beatles broke up 38 years ago and they are STILL making news! That's Awesome!! Let's see the longevity of some of todays shiatty music makers stretch out that long. Maybe someone will bid $100,000 for some stupid rappers 'grill' in 2036. But I think not.

Too bad it wasn't one of his songs that wasn't complete unlistenable shiat.

There is no possible way you can know what music will survive the test of time. To think that the music you don't like will be confined to a lifetime of obscurity is one of the highest forms of arrogance. When was the last time an Elvis item was in the news? A Sinatra-related article? No music is permanent. You say the Beatles have longevity? They used to make the news daily, and now? In your words, are they STILL making news? Hardly. In twenty years, they'll be as relevant as Edith Piaf.

Edith Piaf is a perfectly cromulent cultural icon.

/LEAVE EDITH PIAF ALONE! :(

I know. Mozart shows up maybe once a year in the news. He's such a forgotten relic of yesteryear.

fark you all. I'm not implying they're forgotten or unimportant. I'm saying that it's stupid to judge a musician's worth by how much they're in the news or how much they make or how much of a following they command.

And it always amuses me how Fark will always use the "success ≠ talent" argument for someone like Britney Spears but the second someone criticizes The Beatles/Rush/Radiohead/etc. you'll fall all over each other to trot out the "50 MILLION x FANS CAN'T BE WRONG!!!!" cliche. Get some new straws to grasp at.

I'm hoping those lyrics for Living La Vida Loca will catch me a hefty sum in 30 years.
