I already am. See, these technology embargoes work. They can't get Photoshop CS3 over there.

Looks like they borrowed jesus Georgie's Iraqi PR team

The Stealth Hippopotamus:Oh please let that be true. I'd laugh myself silly.

it's pretty undeniable. the only funny thing is that this is the nation that's causing mccain and lieberman to pee their pants in cowardice. they can't even do a reasonably good job of covering up their failures, and we're supposed to be afraid that they will cause America to cease to exist.

Looks like there's going to be an opening for a new Minister of Cloning Tool.

labman [TotalFark] 2008-07-10 10:04:18 AM
At least this was done by a better photoshopper than the associated press had.

Diogenes [TotalFark] 2008-07-10 10:14:36 AM
Well, that answers my question in another related thread: why'd they bother? I thought they might be going for impact (ooooo...it's four missles!).

It's still a provocative act. But glad to see it's replete with fail.

Satan_Sunburn 2008-07-10 10:14:50 AM
I wonder if they will pull some other shenanigan to draw attention away from this?

That photo looks remarkably similar to the photos from 2004 and 2006, as well.

Clearly this is something teh j00s planted in their photo.

keylock71 2008-07-10 10:28:05 AM
So basically, three out of four missiles launched...

I'm no photshop expert (Illustrator is where it's at for me), but I would think it would have been better to just crop out the dud missile, no?

Again, not an expert, so I try to keep any photoshop edits as simple as possible when I'm using it.

Dude seriously WTF 2008-07-10 10:54:53 AM
Meh, every government creates 'composition' photos to put themselves in a better light. However, my concern would be that people use these PR gaffes to downplay the effectiveness of the Iranian Shahab-3s. These aren't poorly modified SS-1B SCUD (al-Hussein) missiles that Iraq had 20 years ago.

aden_nak [TotalFark] 2008-07-10 10:56:03 AM
See? This is just more proof that we need to invade Iran NOW! Sure, we may all be comfortable over here in the states, but what are we going to do once the Iranians figure out how to use the path tool? Or, heaven help us, quick masks?

oldernell [TotalFark] 2008-07-10 10:59:58 AM
They probably use The Gimp.

Dude seriously WTF 2008-07-10 11:01:51 AM

mr_a [TotalFark] 2008-07-10 11:05:10 AM
Dear President Ahjamininabadninada,

Just a reminder, when Dick Cheney uses the "erase tool", he is probably not using Photoshop.

Sincerely,

White House Computer Applications Department

OK which farker is helping Iran? Fess up now...

fatal_exception 2008-07-10 11:55:41 AM
Personally I think even the missiles at the far left and far right are a duplicate of one another. I'm pretty sure about this because I've seen a lot of 'shops in my time.

Arcanum 2008-07-10 11:56:18 AM
Actually, this photo was used two years ago and has been reused. It's not clear if this was even meant to portray recent test launches, though it is brutally obvious that Iran's so called capabilities are nowhere near what they report. Their homemade ramjet missiles, the sunburns, for examples, almost certainly are not as advertised.

They are the bad guys, and we cannot permit them to nuke Israel for obvious reasons (if it's not obvious to you, go read some books), but they are largely weaker than the press is indicating.

An air campaign with no occupation that set them back a mere 5 years on nukes and missiles is a good idea if we can secure Hormuz (too bad we can't).

Spanky_McFarksalot 2008-07-10 11:56:49 AM
I'll bet the person who photoshoped has been "fired".

I Said [TotalFark] 2008-07-10 11:56:58 AM
The best response to this (read: never happen) would be for the US to release a picture of the death star hovering over Iran done in MS Paint.

If Rugbyjock ran the country, would missiles be shaped different?

This looks 'shopped. I can tell from the exhaust and from seeing quite a few missiles in my time.
