(Rolling Stone) Interesting Smashing Pumpkins reveal 20th anniversary "Gish" tour detail, a re-release of a Gish box-set pushed back to 2009 and half the Pumpkins will still be missing. It's expected to gather as much hype as a Zwan reunion   (rollingstone.com) divider line 28

This is really a good thing. The Smashing Pumpkins put on one hell of a show. Going back to some of those old tunes while Corgan isn't on drugs and the fact that he is 1000x the musician he was then, means this tour can't be bad.

Small venues and TSP don't usually work due to how loud they are, but the one tour date they have announced in August isn't as small as some of those Arising tour dates. The tickets are going to be $85 each...but we all know that they are in it for the money. Anyway, Im such a fanboy I will be there with my video camera and r-09.

Wonder if he'll go back to the ADA preamps.

Gish is without a doubt their best album. Really good stuff.

I agree. Siamese Dream close behind. Wow, coincidence that they're the first two albums? I think not.

Once upon a time they put on a really good live show. Like Metallica, it went all downhill after he shaved his head.

Ah, the one SP record worth buying...and the only moment in their career worth remembering.

Yes, yes, I know...and I don't care.

I want a Zwan reunion! They had the sexiest bassist ever.

Depends on what "without a doubt" means.

I think it's gotta go in the top 2, but there are times where Billy's vagueness in the lyrics cease being decoration, and end up sounding totally inconsequential.

Then again, maybe that's a good thing, and maybe that makes it their best album.

Siamese Dream's lyrics are the beginning of that damn woe-is-me vibe. Which is too bad. There are some really, really exceptional moments on Siamese Dream, and MCIS. Geek USA, Luna, Mayonaise, Galapagos, Muzzle, Beautiful, In the Arms of Sleep are friggin' gems. But it all goes back to the lyrics. The less-is-more lyrical approach to Gish is maybe what keeps it right at the top.

happy to say I saw them when Corgan had hair. If he does a small venue show again out here, i would probably go again, because that last one was fantastic.

Oh man, I saw the "Smashing Pumpkins" in Sydney not long ago and they were absolutely terrible. Really, really terrible. Supposed to be the headliner of the festival and people started leaving half-way through...

From what I hear, they will be back in Asheville, NC. Orange Peel again, maybe not, but hopefully not the god awful civic center. Thomas Wolfe Aud, that would be pretty farkin cool.

Also, the first two albums are indeed the best. Downhill from there.

/IMO

I saw them headline at one of the lollapalooza's in St. Louis and they SUCKED! They followed George Clinton and the P-Funk all-stars and the Beastie Boys. All Corgan did was biatch about how much the crowd sucked since everyone wasn't 110% into what they were playing.

/The were pretty good at The American Theater in STL opening for Pearl Jam and RHCP

// one of the best concerts ever

I saw them open up for KISS on halloween night at Dodger Stadium.

That was a weird night.

see the album was fairly disappointing, and so was the latest (Billy and Jimmy produced it. BAH!), but that has nothing to do with he live show, which is chock full of energy

I loved them back in the day, and saw them on the mellon collie tour when they played in bloomington, indiana. That was the height of their popularity, and the tickets sure werent 85 bucks to see them play at a casino.

/feels old now.

I just want the moment from the viewphoria video at the end of silverfark. And then follow that with Mouths of Babes and Marquis in Spades. RAWK!

Gish was the best and it all went downhill from there.

Horrible musician. And at this point, nobody even cares anymore. Maybe he should spend his free time with guitar and vocal lessons and less time being pretentious and taking himself too seriously.

Hold on here, Gish came out in 1991, that 20th anniversary is still 3 years away. The whole thing reeks of desperaton.

/bought Gish when it came out, haven't listend to it in years.

You're such an obvious troll. Horrible musician? I'd like to see you in a guitar duel with Billy Corgan.

Remember that Batman song? Remember that video? Jesus... THAT guy? Why do we have to give a damn about THAT guy? He's riding this wave of, "I sold more records than NIN and Radiohead, so I'm still relevant." Nope, sorry. "Tonight Tonight" had a gorgeous video and lots and lots of 15 year old girls picked up that expensive ass CD.

You know why Adore didn't sell? Because everyone knew which album "Tonight Tonight" was on... and "1979" is on it too... so you already know which Pumpkins album to buy... used, cause it's cheaper.

That's your career Billy. That's what happened. No one gives a damn about your guitar playing... no one gives a damn about your philosophy and future... and just about everyone is sick of "Tonight Tonight" and "1979".

I've seen them several times and I will gladly watch Corgan do his thang on stage anytime I can!

/I know everyone has been gone for days
