That is exactly what I came in here to say. I don't know how anybody could possibly be surprised by his shtick anymore; it's not like he hasn't done exactly the same thing exactly the same way his entire career.

...and Jackson Pollack can't paint either. Don't dismiss the Pistols musically. People get hung up on the DIY myth of punk but Jones and Matlock are actually pretty d@mn good musicians.

That said, PiL did a lot of good stuff but sometimes got too lost in their desire to experiment. For me they started to lose it after the Generic Album in terms of creativity.

This. well, sort of--still like the Sex Pistols about the same as Public Image Limited. But it annoys me that no one ever asks him about that band in interviews.

Lydon did a really good interview in this month's Mojo. He's always annoyed me, but the interview showed a totally different side to him. He sounded fairly normal, if not particularly smart. Best of all, he had a sense of humor. I think his schtick is just that- he gives the people what they want. It probably annoys him at least as much as it annoys some of the posters in this thread.
