Small world. This happened to my in-laws next door neighbors, this last Friday as well. Though the "victim" didn't die, just had serious head injuries.

I think you get bonus points if you're driving a golf cart.

If you suffered from serious head injuries after falling off a golf cart, I would think you would die just so you wouldn't have to face anyone the next day and admit you got serious head injuries falling off a golf cart.

And have to suffer the Bill Murray jokes for the rest of your entire life.

I crashed a golf cart into a tree on the fourth this year so I am really getting a kick out of these comments...

A golf cart is NOT a motor vehicle even though it may be motorized so DUI doesnt apply there.

And further it doesnt say they were on a public road so cops needent be involved in that.

Fark the cops for trying to fark up one more life in this bad situation.

Depends on the state. In California, you can be arrested on your own private property for drunk in public at the least. CVC defines basically anything that moves as a vehicle.

\CA, the leader in no fun states.
\\spreading no fun to other states.

The state will let you know , you don't even need to be driving, or in a vehicle to be charged. I think motorized vehicle is self explanitory in this caes. Also in MN if you refuse a breath test that is an automatic guilty.

DUI examples (new window)

I know someone who got a DUI after he pulled off the road and into a business parking lot at about 2am. Crawled into the back seat and passed out. Woke up when he got cold and started the engine. Then passed out again. The cops drove by several times and noticed the car running and eventually checked it out. He figured out later that the engine had been running for about three hours.

I think it was Red Asphalt (old movie they used to show in drivers ed) that had the old drunk guy on the golf cart that suddenly zoomed to something like 60MPH (obviously silly video edit) and they show a decapitated cadaver after that scene.

Always got a huge laugh ..

My dad got his DUI when some guys started a fight in the bar he and his golf buddies used to hang out in after a game.

They decided they wanted no part in the fight, and went out to the parking lot, and they played CARDS while waiting to sober up.

Because they were "in" the vehicle "sitting in the bed of his pickup truck" with the keys in the ignition, the cops gave all three guys DUIs.

It held up in court too. Ridiculous.

One time I was out drinking at a bar, and a Kia commercial came on. I mentioned aloud that I heard they had good gas mileage, and the guy next to me turned out to be an off-duty cop, and he arrested me for DUI.

A friend of mine in Philly once dreamt he was driving while passed out in his bed at home, and woke up with a DUI notification taped to his forehead.

It might be because it's 3 am, but I got a good chuckle out of that.

my sister and her friends decided it would be a good idea to drunkenly drive a golf cart to the bar about a week ago. yes, on public roads. a cop pulled them over just as they were about to pull in the parking lot and gave the driver a $400 ticket. I asked my sister what she was thinking.

She said she wasn't thinking much besides wondering where they were going to park the golf cart in the parking lot.

/wonders sometimes if we are really related

FTFA: The driver, a 47-year-old Richfield man, was arrested and was being held in Rice County on suspicion of fifth-degree driving under the influence and criminal vehicular homicide.

A woman in Florida died on Super Bowl Sunday after falling out of a golf cart. (new window)

A 43-year-old Connecticut woman who fell from a golf cart Sunday night died from her injuries, according to her family.

Audrey S. Hanrahan, of South Glastonbury, an attorney and former insurance executive with The Hartford, died shortly after the accident, according to her mother, Elizabeth Hanrahan.

Elizabeth Hanrahan said her daughter went into cardiac arrest at the scene and could not be revived. She said her daughter was kept on life support until her organs could be harvested Tuesday.

DRTFA, and thought, Wow, that would be huge mess if you killed someone with a golf cart.

A friend of mine had a DUI mailed to her. She rolled her car, was taken to the emergency room and released. But since they'd taken her blood, a few weeks later, guess what she got in the mail?

ChadManMn 2008-07-07 11:00:05 PM
I dont think there is a jury in this state that would convict him of that. He'll probably walk with a simple DUI.
