That leaves Accuweather as my source for dependable, smokin' hot weather babes.

Does this mean I can stop canceling my weekend plans because of weather.com's errant rain forecasts?

Goodbye, TWC. I will miss you.

Perhaps they could make NBC Weather Plus something like "TWC 2".. Then show live storm chasing coverage from various NBC affiliates on days when there are big outbreaks.

rippinthegears 2008-07-06 09:14:32 PM
Doesnt NBC use Accuweather?

NBC plans on firing all the staff of TWC and replacing them with live-feed cameras in windows of hundreds of towns around the world.

Uh thanks skinink, I guess.

The undisclosed sum? Wait for it.

That's where the button in the link bar of my browser goes (the hourly weather graph is *awesome* and way better than the hour-by-hour thing from TWC or AccuWeather), but weather.com has the best radar pictures.

The NWS site also breaks a lot.

Conspiracy theories are bunk. If one were to have a conspiracy theory, however, one might note that NBC's ultimate parent GE is a leader in such clean energy technologies as gas turbines and nuclear plants and a non-entity in oilfield services.
/Just sayin'. is all.

Do you have an unselective breeding program also? You know, just as a control group?

I live in kind of the middle of Kansas, and the weather channel.com has got to be one of the most useless things ever.

"Emporia Kansas is going to have the worst storms in over 30 years rolling through them" when in reality it wasn't even the worst storm of the year.

"Tornado Watch/Sever Thunderstorm watch in effect from 10 AM Thursday until 3 AM Friday" when in reality it's not even raining and we hadn't got shiat all day.

Then it was hailing so I check TWC.com and what do I see, nothing. No thunderstorm watch's, it said "cloudy" and that was it.

You do know that TWC isn't responsible for those watches and warnings, right? That they're put out by the NWS? weather.com just relays them.

Also, a watch just means that there's a non-trivial chance that they'll develop. Most of the time they don't. That's why it's a watch and not a warning.

samimgreen 2008-07-06 09:45:31 PM
Hey, buddy, wanna buy a watch?

If you think this is the exit you are a sheep just waking up in time for the sledge hammer. It's just finally on paper. You probably think your leather purse is to blame for polar bears drowning or something.

AgentRed1 2008-07-06 09:48:53 PM
I give it three months before NBC cancels TWC, and replaces it with 24 hours of Deal or No Deal.

Mangoose 2008-07-06 09:49:15 PM
dangelder

Well, the only thing I saw on a quick google was how TWC made 100 mil profit on 200 mil revenue in 1998. That's pretty good. If it's kept that rate (more or less) while increasing revenue to today's standards - 3.5 billion isn't that crazy.

...and General Electric (owner of NBC) continues its quest of slowly buying every IP and company in the world.

/GE owns more companies than most counties
//there have been numerous times when GE has sued a company only to figure out that they actually already own it

Kevin5280 2008-07-06 10:10:23 PM
Great, now I have to listen to weather reports with a left-wing, liberal, McCain-hating slant. It'll probably be sunny and 72 wherever Obama is.

On TWC right now: an hour-long episode on the evacuation of Dunkirk.

Yeah, that helps. Where's the frigging thunderstorms, buddy?
