Senator John McCain, presumptive GOP nominee for the 2008 presidential elections, is essentially relaunching his campaign after months of trailing in the polls nation-wide.

According to certain folks, this is just all part of the plan.

In his first move as campaign manager, Schmidt has hired former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani's campaign manager, Mike DuHaime, to the position of political director.

Farking what?

xxysyndrome 2008-07-06 06:10:14 PM
Yeah, because Ghouliani ran such a great campaign and all...

I think McCain wants to lose.

rufus-t-firefly [TotalFark] 2008-07-06 06:11:04 PM
It got Rudy Giuliani one delegate to the Republican convention, so what could go wrong?

Weaver95:According to certain folks, this is just all part of the plan.

With the way he's been running his campaign the last few months, that's the only option that makes sense.

What if this was just sort of a mutual "F-you"? McCain doesn't really care to win because of the way he was treated in 2000, and the Republican party is so pissed that their brand name is so deep in the toilet (and that the opponent candidate is everything that they can't bring to the table) that they're just washing their hands of 2008, hoping to come back in 2012?

Had I been told this a few months ago, I would have laughed at the idea. Now? Not so much...

robsul82 [TotalFark] 2008-07-06 06:21:53 PM
A big part of Obama's strategy is to make sure everyone knows that all McCain's going to do until November is attempt to scare the shiat out of the voters, so in a clever attempt to deflect that, McCain hires Mr. Noun, Verb, 9/11's campaign manager. It's like McCain just wanted to see how his name would look on bumper stickers.

They hate our freedom and hate America.

I'm starting a proposal to change the nations "emergency" number from 911 to 912.

Dialing 911 on your phone should connect you to a continuous playing of our national anthem and all the billboard hits that came out of 9/11.

I lol'd.

Is there any more ridiculous campaign strategy in the history of politics, or does Rudy at least win the award for biggest fail?

Aar1012 [TotalFark] 2008-07-06 06:31:02 PM
Maybe this will mean that Rudy Giuliani is going to be the VP candidate. They will make their names line up so the letters form a subliminal 9/11.

This. I don't think I ever laughed as much while reading a Fark thread as I did during the multiple Giuliani threads.

Jubeebee, I hope you don't mind that I grabbed this from this thread...

I'm still bummed the Farker who was insisting that McCain could win New York is too much of a vag to identify themselves. I've forgotten who it was and those posts...my, were they entertaining.

No thanks, we already have enough fail here in this state.

Not surprisingly in Amurka, it could well work.

Um Guiliani campaign was probably the worst run campaign in history. It's literally going to be dissected in textbooks for years to come, and this is what McCain is going with?

Well, he's such a maverick. He's so mavericky, he's a mavericky maverick. Only a maverick of his maverickyness would attempt a daring feat so mavericky. Using his mavericky talents, he will show that he doesn't care about loosing. Because he's a maverick. Mavericks like him don't mind loosing, because he is a maverick.

Maverick maverick maverick.

It's almost like the Republican Party is living through The Producers: the wrong play, the wrong director, the wrong cast.

Let's just hope everything goes to plan then, and they fail miserably.

I'm so looking forward to the series of terrorist alerts scheduled for the fall. Is there any way we can get a copy of the No Fly/Watch list and have a betting pool on which ones get hauled off to Gitmo?
I'll lay three to one at least half of the first dozen Enemy Combatants are named HUSSEIN, just like Barack Osama Obama.
Two to one that they only reveal the really important information after being interrogated with enhanced techniques.

Go for it.

Spend all of your money in Florida while you're at it. Sounds like a winning strategy.

Damn you!!! That looks too damned good. I now have to leave in a few minutes to jump in my car and drive 20 minutes to the nearest neighborhood with an IHOP.

All this talk of pancakes makes me frisky. I'm probably going to gain 15 pounds before this damn election is over.
