Obama gambles on the Internet while McCain sits at the slots with all the other octogenarians?

Bloody William:Obama gambles on the Internet while McCain sits at the slots with all the other octogenarians?

Obama payed off his college loans and manages his 401k while planning to finance his children's education. McCain has 200k in credit card debt while financing his political travel by using his beer jet.

Lawnchair 2008-07-06 04:24:02 PM
McCain has always been able to blow his weekly allowance from his dad or his wife and come out okay?

Obama counts and waits until the cards are in his favor, then puts the big money down, while McCain misreads his tells, goes all in, loses, stands up and buys more chips, and sits down again prepared to make the same mistake?

Obama is a gambler. And a sneaky moozlum gambler at that.

FTFA:At the end of the piece, a former Obama colleague, refering to Obama's contemplative gambling style, tells Time, "If he runs his presidency the way he plays poker, I'll sleep good at night." I think the converse is true of McCain--I'd sleep pretty poorly if he were to run his presidency the way he plays craps. (And I think the odds are high that he would. He certainly seems to run his campaign that way...)

OK, I am not a McCain supporter, but unless the authors of this article can do better than innuendo then this is just Chicken Shiat journalism. I don't need to see articles of this 'caliber' about either candidate, especially when there are differences between the two candidates about what they believe and what they say they will do that can be verified.

Now, if something bad about either candidate is published but is backed by reliable information, that's something different.

Nurglitch 2008-07-06 04:53:04 PM
I found the comments informative, particularly the one regard the relative means of the candidates; it provides a little more context.

To be fair, McCain doesn't remember the mistake he made. Or where he is.

"Well, at least I didn't just lose after going all-in...hey, this game looks fun! I'll get some chips and go all-in."

Are you denigrating his military service and his time as a POW? How dare you!

Hey, this is easy. Karl Rove was pretty much stealing from Bush, because anybody can do this shiat. Make a strawman and beat the hell out of it. And if you can throw in an ad hominem, so much the better.

child_god 2008-07-06 05:08:48 PM

I gotta say, that makes McCain sound like a lot more fun to be around than Obama.

That doesn't mean I want John "Bluto" Blutarsky running the country.

Just goes to show how you can use anything to make a point, no matter which side you are arguing.

They could have said:

Craps is a game of camraderie...everyone is betting on the same dice. It's all about togetherness and friendship. High fives all around.

Poker is played mostly by overweight loner guys with goatees who work in tech support and wish they were badasses. Everyone is against everyone else. It's for people who can't get along with others.

Such journalism.

RobbieFal 2008-07-06 05:27:07 PM
Can McCain spend gambling winnings on his campaign?

Maybe he just needs to gather high rollers into a room, hold a rigged game, and round up $10M in new income for himself.

After all, it wouldn't be the first time that he violated the law in this campaign, would it?

Its all about ratings. They want to drag this out as much as possible to get more viewers. All they care about is what name to use in the graphic on Jan 20, 2009.

How many of these countless Obama/McCain headlines that go green on Fark are actually involving anything of substance? Its mostly BS topics, followed by trollerfic threads.

Craps is where you can assign blame to the thrower for your misfortunes. Poker is where you have to assume responsibility for your own actions.

Hey, you're right!

So not only would he be involved with Keating Five he'd be stealing ideas from Teapot Dome?

More media smears against McCain. What a surprise.

McCain is someone you could see at your poker table. Obama wouldn't go to your poker table unless your foods were the right color.

You spelled my name wrong. I don't think you really like me.
But seriously - there is no trivia in this world that some fool or group of fools doesn't attach some importance to. That doesn't make it not trivia. Millions of children believe in Santa Claus. He's still not real. Hopefully, we've heard the last of the "character" crap from the candidates themselves, but the worst of their supporters aren't going to shut up about it until 11/05/08.
Anyway, I'm just sniveling - I am not thrilled with what our political discourse seems to have devolved into, and from time to time, I feel compelled to say so. Carry on.

Haha I love how your obama-bashing insults make little to no sense. You're kind of like the kid who says "that's what she said" after someone says "I'm going to the mall today"

Actually, you are starting to grow on me...:)

However, I would disagree with your analysis. Trivia would be "McCain likes to stay at the Belagio when in Vegas" (unless of course he had some legislative relationship with the owners of that casino, in which case it wouldn't be trivia, but a possibly material fact). Patterns of behavior that would appear to be self-destructive or intemperate would be materially important when deciding whom to elect POTUS, IMHO. Playing craps with reckless abandon qualifies in my book. Whether the article is properly sourced and accurate is another matter, but I don't think that is what you took issue with.

JimmyCarter'sSecondTerm 2008-07-06 07:27:47 PM
So what they are really trying to say is that McCain gambles LEGALLY in casinos, and plays a game that most people have never played but looks cool...

While Obama frequents ILLEGAL back room poker games run by the Chicago mob?

You know, after being thoroughly discredited in both personalities, most people would abandon both names. Even trolls would. they stand no chance of being taken seriously any more, and even the supertrolls fail to solicit any real interesting debate.

/But don't drop either of them, it's easier this way to laugh at you than to figure out who you are any given day.
