Can't we just call them stupid people who believe the first sentence they hear about a given candidate?

Obama's a Muslim! Hilary's a man-eating lesbian misanthrope! McCain's a pansy liar babykiller!

Code_Archeologist [TotalFark] 2008-07-06 02:18:34 PM
Low-info voter is just a euphemism for ignorant people.

I liked the first part of your statement, then I saw a shiny object and lost interest.

Those are the people who've decided every election for some time now.

That's why I'm optimistic, rather than pessimistic, about the growing political influence of the Internet. Sure, most people might not take advantage of it, but having more information and investigation available is not a bad thing.

From TFA:

"It's not the same audience that watches the Lehrer 'NewsHour' or reads Hotline or lives inside the Beltway," says Clinton spokesman Jay Carson. "In a country of 300 million people, that leaves about 299.5 million to reach out to."

No, it doesn't. If they don't want to get their information from legitimate sources, they deserve to be ignored.

You can lead an idiot to information, but you can't make him read.

/Unless you tape his eyelids open and shock him every time he gets a reading comprehension question wrong.

And when they dig deeper they will find out that Obama's a robot, Hillary's a reptilian, and McCain is a mindcontrolled assassin!

They're going to vote anyway. Isn't it better if people try to educate them BEFORE they vote an idiot into office?

Let's just call them stupid because they'll never know.

it's simple - turn the election into american idol and obama wins.

Ah.

I have been wondering why Obama has been doing so well among young voters. Now I know.

/Now watch this dream sequence!

Nurglitch 2008-07-06 03:47:23 PM
That's the point, you can't educate people without their willing and interested participation.

Most of the mudsling has been happened because of Democrat Clinton and her buddies. You can't really take the high road on that.

jjorsett 2008-07-06 03:55:38 PM
I'd put the majority of people in the "low info" category. The evidence is how 30-second campaign commercials can sway voters. If what those commercials say is tipping you one direction or another, you must not have had much data to begin with.

I had a friend try and argue to me that Hillary was already Obama's choice for veep. I was puking in my mouth a little when she explained it was because she saw a picture of the two of them with the "unity" caption.

She considered herself well informed.

I don't know about that. Chain e-mails are a big part of the reason the "Obama is a Muslim" rumor began.

Well, somebody in this country puts American Idol at the top of the ratings.

Congratulations you ignorant pieces of shiat, you have been conquered: my a media industrial complex that sees you as no more than another piece on the board - human fuel for their Globalism experiment, fodder for their cannons. You idiots abandoned America when it was easier to do so, so they stole it from you - and you are NOT getting it back.

You work for China and Saudisraelia now, don't forget it.

Too bad the south ruined literacy tests.

A short awareness quiz at the beginning of every ballot would really clear up a lot of problems.

FTFA:
But McCain seemed positively delighted to be there. "Whatcha gonna do when John McCain and all his McCainiacs run wild on ya?" he asked. He even snuck in a bit of policy talk: "I'm gonna introduce Osama bin Laden to the Undertaker."

Man, as a presidential candidate, the day they ask me to go on WWE and spout some cheesy sound bites for the redneck vote... That's the day I throw in the mother@#$%ing towel.

THIS is pandering. You're running for national office fer chrissakes. That means understanding economics, international relations, elementary geopolitics - granted Bush Jr. doesn't seem to get any of those, but that's beside the point.

It's just... ARGH. SMASH. Universal suffrage can be such a bad thing at times.

When did this become news? This has gone back since the founding of our nation. No, even farther then that!

Hey, I heard Julius Caesar has gay sex with barbarians! Vote for Niro, he'll throw gladiator parties for us all the time!

I agree, but the problem is the accuracy of the information. Lots of people believe that Obama is a Muslim or that Bush is a draft-dodger because of emails they read. They're distortion and twisting of facts and they're not smart or informed enough to discern the difference.
