How is this sick?

This wasn't a "large cache of drugs" this was the LARGEST cache of drugs.

And they didn't just jet around dropping bombs on the projects, they dropped it at a huge Afghani drug factory. I don't see a number of people being killed, so it was probably empty of people too.

I fail to see how destroying drugs in this manner to be "sick."

What's wrong with a little target practice and saving the grunts hours upon hours of removing said drugs and disposing of them?

i'm often confused by articles that seem to contradict each other concerning the drug-trade and the taliban.

i have to agree with subby's reasoning here ... there are much more economical ways to get rid of this ... why not just give it to cops to sell then bust all the buyers? you fill up your arrest quotas and money for the proverbial "widows and orphans" fund?

It's also worth noting that this 'largest' drug stash would've sold for about half the price of the fighter jet that scorched it.

The bombs didn't really weigh 1,000 lbs. They were 1,000 lb equivalent bombs, so they packed the explosive potential of 1,000 lbs of TNT.

But they're going to have to give those pilots bombing practice sometime. Either you waste gas and bombs on the desert during practice, or you waste them on drugs. I agree both are wasteful to a degree, but just remember that those planes are going to be flying either way.

Many years ago I was a member of a VFD in small town in western Oklahoma and 2 times in 1 year the cops found patches of weed growing in the back country and we got the pleasure of helping them burn all the evil weeds the cops cut them down and stacked them and we set them on fire and where there to keep the fire under control. All the cops and OHP officers stood in the smoke with us Great times and one cop told me that they loved this because they did not have to worry about drug test for 3 months.
