Yom yom yom...

We were lazy with getting the garden prepped this year, and then this spring was so weird. 90 degrees one weekend, then two weeks later, snow. I have three tomatoes (two regular, one cherry), and eggplant, and two yellow zucchinis, and the first raspberry crop is coming in. The apple tree is going to have a nice crop, and it looks like the grapes will be good this year, too. But next year, my husband and I agreed, we're going to put more effort into planting and maintaining the garden, and eat more fresh stuff from our own land. The fewer hands my produce goes through before it gets to my plate the better.

Nice to see how the good folks who handled the aftermath of Katrina so well were promoted to the FDA.

If any of these bozoes has a brain, it is in a jar filled with formaldehyde.

I'm eating tomatoes in China, getting a kick....

FTFA...none of the jalapenos [or tomatoes] taken from restaurants and from the homes of those who became ill have tested positive for Salmonella saintpaul.

All this furor tells me that the infections are random. And may not be connected at all. Dirty air-conditioning filters?

If they cannot pin it down by now, they never will. What a bunch of idiots.

Victory Gardens FTW.

(Thai and Habenero this year; plus chocolate mint, rosemary, marjoram, thyme, oregano, and my perpetual persistence at yellow pear tomatoes and nasturtiums. The lettuce and asian cabbages were all under "miserable failure", though.)

abb3w:Victory Gardens FTW.

The Bhut Jolakia is doing really well this year. As well as serrano, big Jim, and jalapenos. Roma tomatoes, and other big ugly tomatoes. The green beans were really good. Rosemary, thyme and basil, but the basil has some mildew on the bottom of the leaves. Will probably have to bag it and the dirt it came in on. (mold probably came from some store-bought plants, all the others are from seeds.)

Got my tomatoes, squash, cardamom, habeneros, basil, and cerranos this year.
