Yeah, like no one's ever written songs set in a fictional world.

/Google search "Star Trek filk" to see how 'hot' this wankery is

The musical equivalent of fanfiction: that just screams 'quality' right there.

I actually went to the show in Gainesville last night with a group of elementary school teachers. It was fun -- lots of crowd participation and props. We were some of the only people not dressed up in Harry Potter clothing of some sort. It was just like any other emo/indie show, but the music was actually better than average (as long as you didn't really focus on lyrics too hard.) The crowd was very young -- we had the bar mostly to ourselves the entire evening.

NOBODY tops Wichita legends MANILLA ROAD for over-the-top wizard rock insanity. Their leader, Mark "The Shark" Shelton, has a master's degree in history and uses it to good effect on their numerous epic-length metal compositions.

Browse their awesome album covers.

Yep. Or Ministry of Magic...Split Seven Ways...Witherwings...Luna's Ceiling...

It's like pretty much any musical sub-genre: you filter through a lot of stuff you don't like to get to the stuff you do.

The guys are from town near me so I saw them a while ago. The whole thing is humorous and they are definitly show men. They know how to keep a crowd entertained. And I know they at least used to show up to just about anything if they had the time and you asked them nice enough.

I remember seeing some story a long time ago about some loser who wanted to create a Middle-Earth tribute band, stipulating that members had to be "drug free."

I'm going to go out on a limb, and guess that that band was full of fail.

Wizard Rock is fantastically fun.

Easy: making fun of wrock without having experienced a show
Difficult: attending said show and not having the time of your life.

Or Draco and the Malfoys or Remus and the Lupins, or The Whomping Willows or Justin Finch Fletchley and the Sugar Quills, or Gred and Forge, or The Moaning Myrtles, or The Parselmouths, or The Mudbloods......

Voldemort wasn't gay, Dumbledore was. Voldemort was sort of beyond sexual interaction.

Well count me in this category.

I was extremely disapointed by Harry and the Potters when I saw them. At the time I enjoyed their shtick, but the longer I played I started to realize more and more just how untalented they were musically and they were only basing their popularity on the Harry Potter franchise. They couldn't keep up with their "Magical drum machine" aka "iBook" among other things. Really rather disapointed.

The opening band Uncle Monsterface was sooo much more fun. Like children's music for adults... Only much, much weirder.
