Hey I remember when that band was popular.

How do you get a bass player off of your porch?
Pay him for the pizza.

They did the same damn thing to the singer (new window) and also to their lead guitar player (new window).

/I know about this Phoenix band.

If he can't play an instrument, give him two sticks and he can be a drummer. If he can't manage that, take one stick away and he can be a conductor.

They're still around? Which county fair was it?

When you're a musician, you hang onto the best-paying gig you can get. Even if their popularity is over, being the Gin Blossoms is better than being in a band that bills themselves as "formerly of the Gin Blossoms."

They have a great story: Founder and songwriter is a screwed-up junkie, they kick him out of the band, he dies (I don't remember if it was suicide or accident). They then want to use more songs he wrote before he died, and got into a legal mess with his mom over it.

Apparently, the good-song well dried up.

Alright! They're playing my local festival this coming week (the National Cherry Festival here in Traverse City, MI) and this gives me a reason to go watch! I hope we get some falling down drunk action!

Did they dust for vomit?

Saw Gin Blossoms just like weekend here in Colorado. They were drinking pretty heavily on stage. They're booked pretty heavily and having to work pretty hard to make a living.

While its oftentimes fun to poke fun at showbiz people, this is a just a group of guys who have been through the wringer. See the above comments.

They're playing near here tonight. I was going to go, but really don't feel like dealing with the 'park here, ride a bus there, deal with tons of idiots' hassle.

That said, I met the guys back in their heyday. They were quite possibly the most down-to-earth and friendly guys you'd want to meet.

I always kind of liked the Gin Blossoms. I guess that makes me a rock poser, but okay. I liked Poison back in the day too.

But still: My first greenlight. Evar.

/1 out of 20.
//better than slots
///no free drinks, tho

They suck. They farked their lead songwriter out of the band and he was dead a short time after, a la Brian Jones. I hope they die like dogs in the hot Arizona sun.

Jesus Christ, who the hell does that?
granted, there was no context here, but still...did they at least make sure he way OK? anything? Did they bother packing him up when they left, or did they just leave him for the wolves and the vultures?
