That's the Bar-Kays.

There's no such thing as the "Staxx Horns".

You are thinking of The Memphis Horns.

And yes, it's awesome.

It was hard for Otis to do wrong to any song and I'm glad I saw this great clip.

That being said, my one complaint is that they did the song way too fast. That song has much more soul at a slower pace. It starts softly and builds. Doing it too fast like this robs it of the groove.

All in all, it's still quite amazing.

That was Otis's thing whenever they were live.

He always told the MG's to play the up tempo songs double speed and the ballads half.

Duck dunn is my bass hero. No flash, just solid and in the pocket.

The Bar-Kays didn't come along until after Otis hit it big, those were the original horns from the Mar-Keys. Maybe I'm the only one who calls them the Stax horns. I knew I heard it somewhere.

The Bar Kays joined Otis the year before this video was shot.

Still, great shot of Steve Cropper at the top of the video.

One of my favorite songs ever. Otis was taken from us too early as well. His voice sounds the same every time. True talent.

I think that's weirdly in that same old shaggy dress.

Most people would put links in a thread like this to imply that something they've seen is better. When it gets as good as what the submitter's posted, I can only offer something that I consider similar and equally cool.

Al Green with Chicago (new window)

Reverend Al and Chicago is World Class Win...
but good luck trying to get a GL with some CTA tunes,
'cause the 'minmods be some hard haters of real music.

Otis was the man back in the day. I was a sophomore in high school when he was taken from us, and it was a sad, sad day.

And berklee- +1 on the Al Green. The Rev still defines funk and soul to this day.

Ever wonder why the crowd shot shows a bunch of people dressed in over coats and suits when it was like a sauna in that theatre? Its simple, Otis walked into the room and was soooo farking cool that they either dressed up or got frost bite.

The hot white girls creaming in the front row disagree with you.
