I can always count on ndotseth to bring up irrelevant and debunked shiat into McCain threads. Wanna know what's awesome? Obama doesn't use lobbyists. How many has McCain had to fire now? We should have a running tally.

Six or seven? I lost count a while ago. It's like Iraq war deaths: they happen so frequently that the media barely bothers to cover them anymore.

Considering the past few days of headlines, including one official press release of the McCain campaign, I have to consider the possibility that ndotseth is one of our betters here at Fark.

U.S. troop deaths in Iraq rose to 29 in June from 19 in May, according to the independent website icasualties.org, which tracks American casualty figures.

The May number was the lowest since the U.S.-led invasion in 2003. In June last year, 101 U.S. troops were killed.

They can help. You are old, you want to support AARP. You like guns, go for the NRA. People only dislike lobbies they don't belong to.

You have to really wonder what sort of Dorito-munching, basement-dwelling, mom leg lotioning loser ndotseth is to be at the very top of as many threads as he is. Not that he isn't maybe a little amusing, in the same way that watching a retarded person attempt to remove a fishhook from their scalp is amusing - but it's so predictable and has become quite tiresome.

He's probably the Filipino boy Rush Limbaigh keeps locked in a box at the foot of his bed, now taught to troll forums for Murrika in between beatings and oxycontin fueled rape sessions.

I hate how lobbyist and anyone with ties to big business are automatically assumed to be lobbying for eating babies or work for a company which ate babies. Two points:

1) A lobbyist should be judged on the issues he lobbies

2) If we cut out everyone with ties to big business, we end up with a bunch of unqualified candidates who never made it past middle management at a mediocre company.

As much as I often disagree with this TKBT, in this case I agree with him.

A retard who posts the same "OMG Evil Jooooz control the world!!!1!!" cut-and-paste over and over has no high-ground to bash anyone for spamming threads or trolling.

no mention of Jews anywhere in your post!

The tone of his schtick used to be that the "Jew media" would never let Barack Obama get the Democratic nomination and that the "Jew media" would never let anyone but Hillary Clinton or John McCain win the presidency. I would guess that "facts" have caused him to dial-back his rhetoric, lest he appear even more foolish than he already does.

The perception among Republicans is that the McCain campaign failed to exploit the opportunity that arose when he secured the nomination this spring.

When even Bob Dole says your candidate is old and lacks charisma, you might have a problem that changing staff won't solve.

Still, I predict a close election, just because of subconscience/closet racism and basic stupidity - but to even compare an erudite, forward thinking man-of-tomorrow to a mumified zombie (who hasn't even figured out email) on any rational level is impossible. If you like John McCain, fine - you're free to vote for him; but please don't try to explain your "reasoning" - it's just sad.

What friggin media have you been watching lately? Today we had the Washington Post running a complete non-story as nothing more than a vehicle for Obama bashing. Donald Graham is doing a good jorb over there it seems. Jeremiah Wright? The total pass McCain is getting on every friggin scandal that has real import, while Obama is subtly smeared on the most trivial of things?

And we ain't there yet. Wait until October. Wait and see how the lapdogs of Tel Aviv overplay every White House basement manufactured "story" about terror, Iran, muslims and whatever else they can do to help McCain. No sense laying it on too thick, too early.

Now, go back to seeing if you can stick your big toe up your own ass, or unsticking it, depending on how far along you are.

Subby needs to get his facts straight.

Steve Schmidt isn't really a lobbyist. He's done some lobbying, but that's not what he's all about. He's mainly a campaign and communications guy. He used to be communications director at the NRCC in 2002 and he worked for McCain before.

Rick Davis had his own firm, but I am not aware of him having lobbied for Iran. He did a lot of telecom work.

And, as I have repeatedly argued with anybody who feels like it, lobbying and lobbyists are not evil. They serve a legitimate purpose and what they do is constitutionally protected.

McCain deserves credit for being able to remove people who have problems. You can't say the same thing about Obama, who has lead a bizarre dance where people deregister as Lobbyists to give him tons of money.

Steve Schmidt led Arnold back from 32% job approval ratings to win in a landslide in 2006. He will lead McCain to victory too.

Also, the hatred for lobbyists is getting to be a bit much. After all, lobbying is protected by the first amendment.

Yes, but neither is being black too liberal, not wearing a flag pin or not placing your hand over your heart during a song. This doesn't stop media outlets and websites from spewing it daily.

I'm of the opinion that lobbyists can be legitimate sources for legislative changes, but over the last decade plus with the like of K street lobbying groups, we've seen them degrade into something that is more about making a certain group more powerful or rich. I don't care which side of the fence you are on, that's not a good thing.

Again, I ask you, what friggin media do you consume?

I remember CNN.com hosting a delegate count graphic showing Hillary in the lead - for WEEKS after that was no longer true. Remember Wolf Blitzer's coverage of that nomination race? Do you remember anything about it? How she was still "mathematically" alive? She was as "mathematically" alive as Terry Schiavo at that point, but they wouldn't let it go. The Israeli press was beside itself over Obama locking up the nomination.

And they dutifully "report" every piece of manufactured anti-Obama tripe, even if it is to report on the fact it's not true, they repeat it and repeat it and repeat it again and again and again.

News flash sausage wallet: The media doesn't choose the nominee - they only steer, as they did here. As they will do again come later this year.

I don't think they saw Obama coming, or they wold have risked coming out harder against him sooner. Ooops. Even Lex Luthor farks up, doesn't make him the good guy.

OneBrightMonkey 2008-07-02 04:21:39 PM
I like the Maverick-y way McCain hired a figure integral to George Bush's 2004 re-election campaign (and a Rove accolyte to boot) to steer the ship.

Just because he has decided to run Bush's third campaign doesn't mean he is running for Bush's third term, right?

The Why Not Guy

My fiancee used to work with the guy at the NRCC. He's not a lobbyist by reputation. Anyone who works in politics in this town long enough is going to engaging in some kind of lobbying. Schmidt may have been involved in some lobbying projects, but he would likely be the communications/grassroots guy, rather than an actual sit-down-with-the-staff/member lobbyist. I just checked the disclosure database and he's not a registered lobbyist, which means he wasn't doing direct contact with legislative offices (and therefore didn't have to register). Otherwise, he'd be registered, like I used to be.
