The tickets are too expensive.

I've seen him lately. Are you sure it's not his 400th?

Go see it. I have seen PM about 3 times in the last 12 years, sure he is old, but he is a legend and can still rock.

I remember when someone offered me free tickets to Elvis when I was in high school, I laughed. Turned out to be his last tour.

Sir Paul taught me how to make mashed potatoes (pops).

I'm surprised Quebec would allow an English speaking performer to sing songs....in English.

Actually, for this event they have asked him to sing the fake French part in "Michelle" for 90 minutes.

Poorly pronounced but not fake.

He's just repeating the "these are words that go together well" line in French.

Thought this was strange too, so i did a quick google and came upon This

He's probably brushed up his skills quite a bit since. Also the last 3 words are in English and moderately amusing.

Just realized the last 3 words are a song of theirs, and he's not being self deprecating. I know very little about the Beatles and their songs, and that's fine by me.

They asked Sir Paul because even Quebec City doesn't want Celine Dion

I LOL'd.

I checked out some more recent videos of PM speaking a little French...you'd be surprised how little it's improved over the years, but at least he stumbles over it with more panache these days.

Could be worse...I remember seeing the Proclaimers a few years back, and the crowd was yelling at them to speak English during their drunken Scottish banter. At least Paul can be understood in his native tongue...

roscotsmalls 2008-07-02 04:06:40 AM
2 weeks ago, he played an enormous free show here in Kiev...Something like a billion people turned out in the pouring rain for a good long show which seems to have passed muster with just about everyone

Me? I was sitting in a faux-german pub, dry, watching Euro 2008...Though they did switch over to the concert televison broadcast at half time and it seemed a great show...If I had the chance to do it over, I'd still have watched the game, but it would have been a tougher decision....

I'd say if you're able to- go...Besides all that, Quebecois girls are the hawt

Paul McCartney could have plastic surgery to look like Oprah Winfrey, and then he could piss on the American flag while setting a copy of Plastic Ono Band on fire, and I wouldn't care.

The Beatles were the best, and he was the best Beatle.

What about his new CD, Memory Almost Full...there's one song on there "Nod your head" that puts some of Yoko Ono's weird ass music to shame. I love the Beatles music immensely, but to me, Paul McCartney always seemed to be in it for the money. John Lennon thought the same thing ("How do you sleep").

That's your big complaint? Paul McCartney made a weird song?

Paul McCartney always seemed to be in it for the money. John Lennon thought the same thing ("How do you sleep").

John Lennon, who wrote "imagine no possessions" while being worth a billion dollars?

See, I don't care why Paul McCartney, or any other musical artist, does it. If the music is good, then it's good, and I want to hear it. If the music is bad, then it's bad, and I don't want to hear it. I truly do not care about "integrity" or "devotion to one's craft" or any other kind of BS. I also don't care if they're in it for money or for sex or for religion or anything else. Be in it for whatever you have to be in it for. Just make good music.

By this logic you would overlook everything Hitler did as long as the music he made was good. all I'm saying is that the wrong two beatles died first, paul is fine except for the fact that he "bought in" somewhere back in 1967.

Arpeggi760:By this logic you would overlook everything Hitler did as long as the music he made was good.

1. Way to Godwin a Beatles thread.

2. If Hitler were a musician, and you asked me whether I liked his music, then yes, I would overlook everything he did when formulating my answer to that question, as it would be completely irrelevant. I don't evaluate a musician's value as a human being when I decide whether to listen to his work. Michael Jackson is a sick piece of shiat who belongs in jail, but I will unashamedly listen to Thriller any day of the week because his sick-piece-of-shiat-iness is irrelevant to whether I enjoy his music.

George was certainly as talented as Paul. His problem was the same as Brian Jones, the main songwriting duo Lennon/McCartney and Jagger/Richards didn't give him a chance. Have you heard All Things Must Pass?? That album is farking brilliant. I'd argue it's the best Post-Beatles album by one of the Beatles. Paul probably has a better voice, but George wrote some damn good songs and would never have gotten plastic surgery, or filed a lawsuit against the other Beatles to dissolve the group.

George became a brilliant songwriter, about 3-4 years after Lennon/McCartney had already entered the realm of myth. "While My Guitar..." and "Here Comes the Sun" are amazing, but they came after the likes of "Don't Bother Me" and "I Need You," which, don't get me wrong, are nice songs, but they're not bowling anybody over.

I agree on both counts. My contention is that Paul just wrote better songs and more of them.

and would never have gotten plastic surgery

As we discussed before, I consider this irrelevant.

or filed a lawsuit against the other Beatles to dissolve the group.

Well, that's putting a bit of unfair spin on it. Paul was the one who least wanted to dissolve the Beatles; he wanted to tour again! He didn't like the manhandling of his songs by Allen Klein and Phil Spector, and he got impatient with John, who wanted to be the one "officially" to break up the group but dragged his heels in actually doing so.

Angel of Death:Arpeggi760: or filed a lawsuit against the other Beatles to dissolve the group.

Might want to read up a little about Beatles history there, Sparky.

Perhaps you'll understand more why Paul filed suit, and why in later years, the rest of The Beatles clearly understood it was the only was for any of them to have solo careers.

The lawsuit was less about ego and more about the freedom to record without having to be joined legally and financially at the hip with the corporation that was The Beatles for the next 10 years.

Paul, in fact, was the last Beatle to leave the group. Paul also pulled them together one last time for the masterpiece that is "Abbey Road".

/don't understand Paul haters
//don't even try to out-Beatle me unless you want an epic fail sammich
