Werent ozzfest tickets free last year? I mean, clearly these weren't.. But the regular ones were right?

Ozzfest was my first and by far the most fun concert I've ever been to, it rained and the entire lawn turned into a giant moshpit/mudfight, tits everywhere, and a giant cannabis cloud ascending...god that was the day

and this year's line-up (with the exception of The Sword and Goatwhore) is among their crappiest yet. even the Sounds Of The Underground tour is all mall metal and metalcore garbage (noteable exception, Amon Amarth).

I guess there's always Summer Slaughter (although the US portion has the weakest lineup).

yay for being "underground" and "counter-culture"

\\yup, i'm that underground

In a crappy local venue I saw a 14 year old in a Burzum shirt headbanging to a Trivium cover band. Varg's a pop star now, man.

\listening to Giant Squid's "Metridium Field"
\\not metal, slightly underground

Do all of the bands use the exact same unreadable font?

What I really like about black/death/doom metal is the band names. I always imagine some sprightly 16-year-old girl bringing a bandmember home for dinner.

"Mom? Dad? This is my new boyfriend, Graevid Blutbad. He plays bass for Macerated Nazarene. Isn't he cute?"

Man you'll never see a doom metal band with a logo that looks like it was vomited during a spasm and a name out of a medical dictionary.

Doom metal bands have names like Cathedral, Candlemass and Saint Vitus, use a lot Christian imagery, and boasts Christian groups like Trouble and Place of Skulls; whereas the average black metal fan would rather lock himself in a burning church before going near a cross set the right way up.

I'm no metalhead but I can respect a lot of doom metal musicians. Black and death metal, not so much.

Yeah, the Ozzfest I went to was also one of the best concert-going experiences of my life. Killer line up, and an absolutely insane crowd.

I guess I should add that doom metal is still pretty damn silly, though. Just a different variety of silly. (Plus I just checked your profile and you seem to listen to it "sometimes", so I'm not telling you anything you don't know.)

Heavy metal is funny.

I bought a guitar from a guy who was in a squiggly metal font band. He had their logo painted on the case. I still don't know the name of his farkin band.

I wanted to form a metal band that had the name:

Flowers Are Pretty (After the Blood Of Many Wars Has Soaked Into The Ground Thus Fertilizing The Ground And Allowing Flowers To Grow Once Again! RAAAAAAHHH!!!)

But Flowers Are Pretty for short. In the squiggly death metal band font.

Homocide is just another form of promotion. Varg was ahead of his time. Soon, all the kids will be doing it.
