Aside from those crazy snow golfers, you can only play golf in Wisconsin for a few months out of the year.

Smart robber, IMO. Probably made off with a couple thousand. Much easier & safer than robbing a liquor store, and it's almost a guarantee that each person will be carrying a fat wad of cash that's easily replaceable, so they won't put up a fight.

/far cry from the guys we usually hear about here, falling asleep mid-burglary, etc

The caddies probably lost more than the golfers did.

He robbed the Rosenberg foursome. The thief escaped with $127 in cash and $8,000 in pledges.

Usually both. My rich ex-stepfather (who was a huge douchebag) generally had a clip with about $1000 or so in it.

FTFA: When the party of six, four golfers and two caddies, reached the 16th tee shortly after 11 a.m. a lone gunman emerged from nearby woods and said, "Give me your money," according to police.

So they don't have to tip.

We play $5/hole, and I am not rich. So I imagine it would be probable that those golfers had some decent money on them.

Those are some cheap-ass hookers.

Ooops, sorry. I'm in the wrong thread.

Two guys are golfing on a course that is right next to a cemetery. After they tee off, one of the golfers notices that there is a funeral procession passing by. So he takes off his hat, and places it over his heart. When the funeral is over, the other golfer looks at the guy and asks, 'Why did you do that?'

The man replies, 'Well we were maried for almost 40 years. It's the least I could do.'

/copied off the internets... old joke, still makes me laugh... nice to see the stereotypes realized every now and then

Golfers carry cash. It makes settling the wagers easier.

You gotta love golf. It's basically a mildly athletic excuse to gamble and drink. What a great game...

Gambling, maybe easier to pay for food and drink in the clubhouse afterwards or after the ninth hole, strippers... plenty of reasons to be carrying cash.

April, May, June, July, August, September?

I would say that qualifies as a good portion of the year.

My mom fainted and was taken to the hospital.. they contacted my dad who was playing in a tourney at the time at his country club. They said that she was fine and there was nothing he could do...

Oh yeah, he finished his round -- but skipped the normal 4-6 beers afterwards to head directly to the hospital to see mom.

"The incident was an unusual occurrence at our club."

I should certainly hope so.

FWIW....When I was stationed in Stockton, CA in the early 90's there were numerous robberies at the local Van Buskirk course. Relocated to Guam before I could find out if they ever caught the robbers.
