"Bawdy House" is a Victorian era term, which in Canada was adopted as an official legal term and has never been changed. It is used to define any business or home that supports the activity of prostitution. So you hear that term used a fair bit in an urban area.

You'll never find any prostitution laws though since technically it is perfectly legal thanks to the Supreme Court of Canada deciding that consenting adults can do whatever they like in private. However, the exchange of money (or services) for sex remains illegal as a compromise to satisfy the moralists.

You don't get busted for the act, you get busted for the exchange of cash.
