runway fail someone please bring the sexy men in kilts pics (wishful thinking, knowing most of you, i'll end up getting hot japanese lesbiens in kilts)

I celebrate my heritage of hundreds of years of being under the thumb of the British Empire by wearing a kilt.

That's definitely a stupid looking skirt, but its not a kilt. From what I have seen, women like a guy in a kilt....quite a bit.

Beats my German heritage lederhosen by a mile I would say.

The ridiculousness of how the model in TFA's picture looks has absolutely nothing to do with the kilt he's wearing.

I wonder if fashion models ever feel shame.

I think kilts rock. I want a real one that you have to wrap around ala Brave Heart, but those bad boys are exspensive as all get out. One day though.......

Mentat: I wonder if fashion models ever feel shame.

The picture in the article makes it pretty clear that they either a) have no shame; b) are blind; c) have no mirrors backstage; d) any combination of the above.

Not all men look good in a kilt, but they all look better.

Except that model.

Ewan Mcgregor is probably the only Scotsman I would want to see in a kilt. He looked particularly awesome in The Pillow Book.

Male fashion models ALWAYS look ridiculous.
Men in kilts, though, look good. And they just keep looking better the more I drink with them.

I don't even own pants. Kilts and similar garments are all I wear.

Pants are fine if your junk is small enough to stuff in to such a tiny space.

Otherwise, it is just uncomfortable and painful. Seams chafing away in all the wrong places. Zippers. Ugh. And that hot swampy feeling when it is 100 degrees out with 100% humidity.

Pants are evil.

Came here for that. Seriously, if enough men tried it, they'd never go back. Do you like not wearing pants? Because it's exactly like not wearing pants. Summer breezes caressing your junk and such.

I have seen some men in kilts in my time. None of them paired said kilts with hot pink spandex and moon boots.

No garment is more comfortable than a kilt. I have two, and wear them regularly. Yeah, kids laugh, but men worry because their ladies absolutely dig it! So does my wife, which kinda keeps me from taking advantage of offers....

Some of the greatest night's I've had were when a group of us was wearing kilts at the bar/club. All the ladies always ask if it's true what a scotsman wears under his kilt...

I wore the kilt like a man

/A real man.
//a great song about a man in a kilt found here (new window)

I usually pair my kilts with a pair of Blunnies and a comfy shirt.

Oh. For you people wanting to know more about kilts: Link (new window)

A helpful link.

Already in this thread, there are pics of things that are not kilts. Kilts have flat aprons in the front and pleats in the rear. Shirtless guy a few posts up wearing the red skirt? That's not a kilt. Guy with the lollipop? That's not a kilt.

Pet peeve?

FunkOut [TotalFark] 2008-06-29 11:46:08 AM
It's a strange custom, considering the Celts invented trousers and the Romans laughed at them for not wearing little flirty, short tunics like civilized people. The fact that the Scots wear skirts that fly up with a little breeze in a place that's rather windy, I can only conclude they're a) exhibitionists and b) looking for easy access when trying to take a piss while drunk.

/hey, McCloud, get off of my ewe

Hmmm...

Manning up and wearing a kilt will increase one's chances of hitting it?

First off: catwalk fashions and real-life fashions rarely intersect (thank the Gods). Anyone is going to look ridiculous in the vast majority of catwalk fashions.

Second: As a SCAdian, I'm gonna have to disagree with any assumption of kilt-ridiculousness. One of the fringe benefits of attending an outdoor SCA event is getting to see guys in kilts. And there are quite a few...

/usually with long hair, too - another bonus!
//yeah, yeah, YMMV...

Don't get me wrong, I think the whole man-skirt thing is too cool. It's makes my wearing an orange tuxedo while riding a unicycle with an iguana on my shoulder seem normal in comparison.

Thanks... men.

Let your inner scotsman breath the fresh air and run free in the lilacs. Long live the Scottish. Long live Scotch and low hanging nads! Screw the rest of you unreformable heathens.

Q:What do you wear under your kilt?

A:Me boots.

Q:Whats worn under the kilt?

A:Nothing, it's all in perfect working order.

I play the pipes and wear a kilt though my ancestors came from Spain.
Is this a great country or what?
It's been just grand!

Me and You : Gerard Butler, in a kilt?

Veteran of the Cola Wars 2008-06-29 12:06:12 PM
Geoman, Braveheart never wore kilts.

The movie is riddled with errors.

A great kilt isn't that expensive. You can do it with almost any 4 yard or so section of wool. No, you do not use 9 yards of fabric to make a great kilt. You wouldn't be able to move in one. 4 yards will do, at roughly 58 to 60 inches wide, depending on the mill that made the fabric. Solid colours work fine. So do tweeds. (Tweeds are far more Scottish than tartans)
