I was in Rock Hill, SC about 6 weeks ago and they were advertising Asheville, NC as a "getaway".

I'm thinking that SC must be pretty farked if Asheville is looking like a good idea. But my stay there proved this thought of mine to be incorrect.

Well, I've lived in SC all my life, and I can honestly say that Charleston is the only good thing about it. Sadly, I live in the Upstate, which is far away from the coast.

Been to Charleston a few times (including an incredibly brief stay at a certain college down there) and it found it much better than the upstate.

There used to be a giant 'Local Attractions' road sign on Rt. 890 out side of Schenectady, N.Y. It was blank.

It's home to me. We have a house right on the ocean at Myrtle Beach. I love it there.

I'm actually proud of saying I'm from South Carolina, just so I can mention that I lived Charleston (well, and Beaufort).

For being such a small city, it's actually a pretty happening place. There's an interesting art scene, lots of good-looking, fashionable people and there are TONS of great restaurants. And, of course, it's basically on the beach.


The rest of SC is awful, of course. But if I were going to leave the state, why stop at North Carolina or Georgia? It's really not like either of those states are any better. If you're getting out, get the HELL out, and don't head for Florida either. Trust me, as someone that currently lives in Orlando. :(

As someone who lived in SC (near Charleston) for two years, I approve their message.

That place is hell. In the summer it's hell's hell. That's where Satan sends people who need to be punished more than he can provide on his own turf. He sends them to a place where it's so humid that you don't walk; you swim. And little bugs peck at your flesh while you do it.

I would never recommend SC as a vacation spot to anyone. Unless I really hated that person.

A city official, Steve Gantt, says a Columbia worker will now tail along with the North Carolina crews installing the city's more than 100 new signs.

So let me get this straight: they outsource the work of putting up signs to a private company. That company can't do its job right so now a public employee is going to have to assigned to each sign crew to make sure they do it right.

Wouldn't it have been cheaper & less of a headache to hire someone from the area to put up the signs. There would have been far less of a chance of this happening too it would seem.

Trust me, when you're in Rock Bottom for any length of time, Detroit's a fun getaway.

And WTF you doing talkin' smack about Asheville? It's one of the better medium-sized cities in NC. Beats the shiat out of:
