Yeah, this summer is gonna go well for Obama.

A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.

Of course Bill is totally right here.

Screw those people telling him to shut up and get over it. He should make it obvious, and when it happens, then what's the harm?

The Democratic Party should be winning this election easily. But they're blowing it by nominating the wrong person for the job.

Gwendolyn [TotalFark] 2008-06-28 06:47:41 PM
Yeah but did you read the article? One "insider" is saying that he may have kidna said that and then if you keep realing other people inside his campaign say that he's keeping his distance until he thinks Obama has a chance.

FTFA:
A senior Democrat who worked for Mr Clinton has revealed that he recently told friends Mr Obama could "kiss my ass" in return for his support.

So a mysterious ex-employee says he said that to people that were not him.

A second source said that the former president has kept his distance because he still does not believe Mr Obama can win the election.

It has long been known that Mr Clinton is angry at the way his own reputation was tarnished during the primary battle when several of his comments were interpreted as racist.

They painted him as racist about every farking thing he said or did. I'd be a little pissed too. Bill Clinton is an ex-president not the leader of the party and a retired politician. Why the fark does Obama give a shiat what he thinks anyway. They plainly called him an out of touch power hungry racist asshole. Why would a campaign want help from someone so obviously contrary to what they are trying to accomplish?

Hobodeluxe [TotalFark] 2008-06-28 06:48:14 PM
also notice how an anonymous unsourced "quote" is the inflammatory headline.

that's the mark of good journalism there.
beware the people with agendas. they have no problem passing a lie for the truth anymore. no one pays attention anymore. people don't hold them accountable for getting it wrong. they've lowered the bar so far that the truth doesn't matter anymore. just attribute whatever smear you want to an anonymous source and let it ride.

Gwendolyn [TotalFark] 2008-06-28 06:49:22 PM
OOhh look a guy who wrote a sorta scathing book about Clinton in the past is in there too.

Jesus Christ is there going to be ANY unbiased journalism this election cycle.

Actually, the DNC could have nominated anyone in the world OTHER than Hillary and still beat McCain. Given that you are an avowed McCain voter tho, I don't exactly expect you to admit it.

I'm going to join in the chorus of "I don't believe a goddamn word of that".

Bill is a good man, and like Al Gore, does more for the world outside of the White House than they ever could inside it.

Bill Clinton is going to have to start kissing Obamas ass if he wants to be anything other than a doddering old ex-president with a childish grudge.

robbiedo 2008-06-28 07:45:25 PM
Hey, Bill...(if you are here on Fark)...we luv ya an all, but if you didn't lie about getting a blow job, we wouldn't be in our current situation.

So, man up, and do what you can that helps us get back on track. If that means whole-hearted support for Obama, please get on board. This is not about a man, but a shared political agenda.

Bill Clinton is so bitter happy about Barack Obama's victory over his wife Hillary that he has told friends the Democratic nominee will have to beg sodomize him for to loose his wholehearted support.

hotter than the ads 2008-06-28 07:59:12 PM
I think most "ordinary" people would be surprised by the level of egotism and small-mindedness of our politicians. It's easy to assume and the facts support the argument, but it's still shocking to me when I come face-to-face with it. Bill Clinton did well by America as President; that said, I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the statement in the headline was accurate.

My amateur opinion is that Bill resents the popular image of Obama precisely because it threatens his own self-image. He has been the most popular Democrat across America for the larger part of our new century, and I think even the best of us would be hard-pressed not to feel some resentment at losing that distinction.

And, unfortunately for us all, we can hardly say that our politicians represent the "best of us".

Somacandra [TotalFark] 2008-06-28 08:00:18 PM
Hmm. I thought President Clinton preferred it in the front, rather than the back.

Don't forget, Bill will also lose the "first black president" label that he's so proud of.

Clinton said the same thing to one of my 'friends'. How weird!

Gossip mags are rubbing off on politics now?

So....he's not going to "help" until he feels his help isn't needed?

fark bill clinton. I doubt he would "help" at all. Then again....he sure helped his wife didn't he?

tatum 2008-06-28 08:07:28 PM
fark Bubba.
He embarrassed his wife and was largely responsible for sinking her campaign. Why the hell would anyone want to risk having that loose cannon on board?
He's over. Finished. Hillary, as it turns out, is the useful one of the pair. In fact, she'll probably work harder if Obama gives her some rope with which to choke some humility out of the philandering bastard.
Good riddance, William Jefferson Perjurer.

It has long been known that Mr Clinton is angry at the way his own reputation was tarnished during the primary battle when several of his comments were interpreted as racist.

True, most of his comments were not-so-subtly designed to call attention to Obama's race, but how could anyone see that as racist? Take your false hurt feelings elsewhere, Bill. I'm farking sick of you and your wife acting like everyone else is in the wrong for pointing out what self-centered, spoiled, unscrupulous, powerhungry greedheads you really are and always have been.

And no, Obama, we DON'T need the Clintons. What we need is for them and all the politicians like them to go the farking hell away already. THAT'S the change you've been promising, and this is how you carry it out? By embracing the very people you claim to be against? People wanted you as their candidate because you insisted you were the opposite of everything Hillary represents. Joining forces with her undermines everything you've said so far, and the fact that everyone thinks you had to be coerced into doing it just makes it seem worse. Have you no backbone? Are you always going to fold this easily when the dirtbags threaten to pull their support? Is your behavior, by any stretch of the imagination, anything different than we've ever seen from any other ambitious political candidate?

You promise change we can believe in. At the moment, I don't believe you're tough enough or dedicated enough to change a goddamn thing. All I see is a good motivational speaker playing the same old two-faced political games we've all grown sick of, and I am very, very disappointed.

Rovian 2008-06-28 08:20:27 PM
Bill Clinton has always enjoyed fond admiration from the American people for empowering progressive policies like the Hope Income Tax Credit. It would seem he has taken some of the rejection more personally even than Hillary. We still love you Bill. You will always have a place in the parthenon of democratically elected heroes as the last legitimately elected president of modern history within our hearts.

[insert Barack's finger pointing THIS image here]

It's funny that when Bill was POTUS, Hillary is largely seen as one of the reasons why he drew so much ire. And once he's out and she wants in, she has everything going for her and Bill opens his mouth and ruins it. And just when she thinks she'll recover, Bill opens his mouth and ruins it again.

The Clintons intend to cause Obama to lose this election and McCain to win so Hillary can run against McCain in 2012. Get some popcorn, sit back and watch.

Barack beat two Clintons at their own game, and then some. If Bill wants sour grapes, let him sit with 'em till November, Obama can handle McCain.

This comment, however plausible it might sound coming from a spoiled, beaten, has-been of a President - is unproven and undocumented. It is gossip in print, nothing more.

Besides, Obama already kicked his ass so I doubt he needs to kiss it.

They don't. But it would not surprise me that Bill is a little ticked that he has to give up his "King of the Democrats" throne to Obama.
