Not surprised he did this. How many times did Obama kiss Hillary's ass during the primaries, yet she didn't even congratulate him whenever he won?

This picture summarizes what I find most disgusting about Hillary's most die-hard supporters -- their overwhelming sense of ENTITLEMENT:

media.washingtonpost.com

No one forced her to spend her campaign into the ground for months after it was clear she couldn't win. She should pay her own damn debt.

Mistah Scrotie 2008-06-27 09:18:24 AM
I'm supporting Obama in the general and I think he was the best option in the primary by the time I got to vote (Illinois) but I'll admit I'm a little disappointed with him lately. Clinton lost the primary because of a number of idiotic mistakes. She also extended the campaign out months longer than necessary and used that time to unleash a slew of negative campaigning, much of which the GOP has picked up on and continues. Despite that, he beat her. Why the hell is he giving her money now?

She has $110 million dollars, let her pay her own damn debts. If I overdraw my credit card and can't afford to keep my new plasma screen, will he donate $2,200 to me or do I have to imply he's a muslim first?

hillaryis44 is still rockin'

I wouldn't dare post this comment anywhere else but after months of blogging here, I know everyone will understand how i feel.

I am totally DISGUSTED by HRC's cooperation with BO. I can't understand HOW she can work with him much less ask her supporters to back him. I am completely disillusioned and ready to go back to my anarchist ways. Does anyone else share the sense of betrayal I'm wrestling with

Basil, Neeta...please, hold my hand. Tonight, I feel the same way you do. And yet, I hear a wee voice telling me not to give up, to never count her out, that she must have a plan, that she will rise out of Denver, and be 44. I want a miracle. I want a Hollywood ending where justice triumphs, the fighter for the people wins and so on. She helped me to believe again in our American way. If she is beaten, there is no justice, no nothing. It's bad enough to watch our culture erode into hate-filled music, drugs, sleazy sex, macho violence etc etc. I wanted to believe again in something good about our country, but everywhere I look outside my yard full of flowers, I can't see - tonight, anyway - where the good is anywhere. Tomorrow, I'll be out giving out campaign materials and spouting talking points to help O'Reilly beat Kerry. I'll feel glad to be doing something to help cure this mess, but tonight I am so glad you all are here. Thank you.

I don't think anyone can say that Obama's not reaching out to Hillary supporters or that he's "disrespecting" them or her. To kick Hillary while she's down at this point would be just as counterproductive as voting for mccain to support Hillary.

I have no issue with this. He didn't spend my money to do this he spent his. He was asking for people who could help to retire this debt to do so. he then lead by example. If you don't want to help Hillary then don't. I am not going to give her a single dollar. The DNC, Obama and my local challenger for Senate need that money more.

choice and consequence 2008-06-27 09:44:20 AM
CNN's headline for the story this morning is "Obama gives as much cash as he can to Clinton". I was like, wow, couple million maybe? Then I read the story, $2500 made me LOL. Yeah, individual contribution limits, but I assume there are ways to funnel campaign money her way if he wanted to.

$2300, I meant.

CNN also spent about 5 minutes this morning on an article about the non-relationship between Obama and Scarlett Johanssen. Which is about 4:50 too long.

A) It's normal. Winner pays loser's debt.
B) As I see it, he's asking the big donors to bear the brunt. People who've likely maxed out for Obama and would otherwise no longer be in play. No sense draining his small donors' wallets, and they may not want to anyway.
C) The polls show that time is healing the wounds. If this furthers that along, well, go for it.

Politically, I agree with and understand this move, and I'm almost actually pleased by it. As some talking head said last night, "It's the best $2,300 Obama has ever spent."

Personally, I farking hate it.

Sideshow Bob: Yopu can't keep the Democrats out of the White House forever! And when they're in, I'm back on the street, with all my criminal buddies!"

I love the self-depricating humor in early Simpsons (seasons 1-9) episodes, since a majority of the writing staff were liberal Harvard alums.

You need me Springfield. Your guilty conscience may force you to vote Democratic, but deep down inside, you secretly long for a cold-hearted Republican to lower taxes, brutalize criminals and rule you like a king!

I agree, but I'm at least relieved that it was only $2300, not like her full debt or anything. Headliens made it sound like he said "fark it, I have $23 mil. lying around..." That would've pissed me off. The $2300 is example-setting more than anything. if no one donates to pay off her debt, at least he can't be blamed for not trying...

seriously, though, she's $24 million in debt? Good god...

rhiner 2008-06-27 11:22:29 AM
$2300 is the limit for civilians. The lawmakers exempted themselves from the $2300 limit... Obama could pay her $22 million if he chose to. (And Hillary knows this trick all to well... she raised FAR more than she needed to forher senate run, and uses the extra cash to fund other senate races -- and earn favors in return.

Hey, I am not a Hillary fan, and although I am sad and pathetic, I am not deluded. I would love nothing more that for BO to tell Hill and Bill to go fark themselves. BO is openly sucking up to the Hillaryis44 crowd and if you don't see that, then you are the deluded one.

As someone who has worked in politics at the state level, and has studied at least the basics of national-level finance law in a law course, it's totally 100% not true.

In fact, under the portion of McCain/Feingold that the SCOTUS just overturned, there was a limit on what you could give YOURSELF - let alone other politicians.

At best, you could get involved in some sort of scheme like the one that got Tom Delay indicted. Which is to say, I suppose Obama could do it, just not LEGALLY.
