There was a rumor for a while that he was going to run against Liddy Dole for her senate seat. Libs were happy because they thought his cult-like popularity in NC would carry him over her. Conservs were happy because they were like, "no farking American Idol queer is gonna beat Bob Dole's wife!"

Seeing as the primaries are done with, it's pretty clear he's not running.
