(Starpulse) Obvious Another Idol, Blake Lewis, gets dropped by its label. Could it be that American Idol produces nothing but flavorless, vacuous cookie-cutter artists, discarded in matter of months when it's discovered they can't do anything but sing well?   (starpulse.com) divider line 17

Wait. Isn't that the beatboxing guy? God I hated that guy. And I hated everyone who defended his so called talent. Beatboxers should NOT be encouraged. Learn to play an instrument asshat. I Swore he'd fail to my friends who thought he was cool. Vindication is mine at last.

"Idol" may be pretty vapid, but it's not their fault they don't sell well. The people on that show are no better or worse than the hundreds of other disposable pop-tarts that have come before or will come in the future.

No, it's the labels' fault. NOBODY sells well anymore. The recording industry is kaput. for offering greedy contracts, milking singles for all they're worth while ignoring albums, constantly pushing new formats, failing to support career artists, failing to look hard enough to find good artists, and fighting technology tooth and nail while embracing a long-obsolete business model. Screw the labels and screw the RIAA. They've killed the industry through greed and short-sightedness, and they even have the audacity to biatch about lying in the bed they made for themselves on top of it.

Google for an essay called, "Some Of Your Friends are Probably Already This F*cked" by Steve Albini. That pretty much sums it up.

If only the world would figure this out about Justin Timberlake, too, I would be a lot happier.

Or it could be that the American Idols has a pretty solid track record, with a fair number of hits misses on par with any other record company.

I think he made a great album with some great singles, but the label screwed up by making a terrible choice for the first single.

R.I.P. Buffy. The art of beatboxing ended the day he choked on that ham sandwich.

Eh, if he needs a job, he can always go gay for pay. He's a cutey, and he's got some mouth skills, obviously.

Other artists don't get the non-stop media coverage that an American Idol contestant gets.

If you fail after all that exposure... FAIL.

Blake Lewis can sing?

All kidding aside, this is another example of how farked up the music business is. Back in the day when you got signed to a record deal it was usually for three albums because the record company figured the third album would be your breakthrough (although if it was your debut or second they wouldn't complain). Now? If you don't come out of the gate selling four million you're gone.

Disposable artists singing disposable songs within a disposable genre of music that just happen to fit into the disposable fad of the moment.

The recording industry is kaput.

Also 'cause the number of people can only be growing - those who have heard techies gripe about the wickedness of the RIAA, and are buying more music from indies, or more used CDs, to deliberately avoid funding the shakedown artists...

Take a tool and have him karaoke for 16 weeks until the finale when he gets to sing something original and then be surprised when he tanks? Also they crap all over the singers, give them music they think the public wants instead of what the singer is capable of.

/doesn't think BeatBoxBlake can sing anyway.

The winners inevitable failure is merely a reflection of the retard viewers who put them there. I don't think mall rats should be allowed to vote for anything, ever.
