"When I came back from lunch they were waiting in the lobby for me. It's a little creepy they know where I work."

Dude, it's the FBI. They're not dumb. Shortsighted, occasionally, lots of red tape, yes- but they know how to figure out where you work. What a dumbass.

I don't care how good it could end up being, that ain't a Guns N' Roses album. It's an Axl solo album.

Too bad the songs a pretty bad

So RIAA rented some FBI goons for an afternoon? Hmm...wonder how much the FBI charges for that service?

Dear God, don't tell me Guns 'n' Roses is coming out with a new album. Can't they leave us in peace? Don't they realize they never should have existed in the first place? Typical: the only people in a position to do what's best for everybody never do.

Koggie [TotalFark] 2008-06-24 10:11:36 PM
It's not that bad. It's not GNR though. It's definitely an Axl solo effort.

"I'm not so worried about that," Skwerl says. "It's a legal grey area since it wasn't for download, it wasn't a finished product. We aren't sure who owns the recordings. I feel like I might survive this."

If whoever owns the recordings is sure who owns the recordings, he might not survive the ensuing lawsuit. Though he might live the copyright hasn't been registered. Failure to register doesn't make copying legal, but it reduces the amount of blood the lawyers can squeeze from him.

Yes to both. This dummy deserves to be caught.

I still think Rocket Queen is one of the better songs I've ever heard.

This album is so overhyped, I can't see how it could do anything but disappoint. Unless it comes bundled with a copy of DNF.

gregGr 2008-06-24 11:29:34 PM
Ya know how ya stop the leaks? Release the damn thing already! Or are they doing the billionth overdub that no one except Axl will ever notice...

Gangway Fathead 2008-06-24 11:35:49 PM
Whether the songs suck or not it's a farking douche move to post songs that the writer isn't ready for the world to hear.

If this is a viral marketing move or something, then whatever, - but if the guy is just some random blogger who decided it would be cool to share someone else's work in progress with his close, personal friend The Internet - well, come on... Can we agree that kinda sucks?

/Not interested in the album in any WSorF.
//But still.

I think you're being a bit optimistic for an album named 'Chinese Democracy'.

I agree, and am amazed at how many people disagree. I believe they're judgement is highly influenced by the fact that Axl Rose is a complete farking tool.

WhyteRaven74 [TotalFark] 2008-06-24 11:55:49 PM
Given the guy took the files down when asked to, he shouldn't be in too much hot water. Indeed standard practice is to request someone remove infringing material, and then if they don't to persue legal action. But if they do, that's that.

spacebar 2008-06-24 11:57:20 PM

Yeah, if you don't count the twenty bajillion or so better rock albums.

But hey, every genre needs it's (absurdly overrated but stupidly popular) Thriller.

T-Luv 2008-06-25 12:20:41 AM
Maybe those FBI agents can tell us where we can find Osama... I'm sure all other crimes were solved so the FBI decided this was top priority.

There is nothing grey about it. "Leaked" means stolen from the owners and you were in possession of stolen property. It belonged to them whether it was finished or not. I sincerely hope you don't survive it.

If you try to leak the new Guns N' Roses album, expect a visit from the FBI

What if you take a leak on the new Guns N' Roses album? Music critics have been guzzling water for months just so they'll be ready.

bingethinker [TotalFark] 2008-06-25 06:03:31 AM
So this album has been in the Witness Protection Program all these years?

Zem 2008-06-25 06:04:22 AM
Koggie: It's not that bad. It's not GNR though. It's definitely an Axl solo effort.

Um, might be a bit redundant to mention this, but you know the "Guns" in Guns n' Roses? Well, Guns left before Appetite came out. So, I dunno, make of that what you will.

Anyway, who wants a copy* **?

*Offer not valid outside of the UK, suck it FBI.
**Offer not really valid at all.

MetalGator 2008-06-25 06:45:41 AM
The songs are not worth a 14 year wait. I think it will be a decent rock album, but I don't like the direction Rose is taking for the majority of the songs. It's like he's trying to be a cross between Brian Wilson and Trent Reznor, and it just doesn't work. He isn't a rock composer, he needs to go back to singing and writing lyrics for bluesy hard rock songs. Of the 9 songs, I don't hear a radio hit once the 2 week novelty of new GNR wears off.

To sum things up, he desperately needs Izzy back. Axl's songs just don't work, and Velvet Revolver has proven Slash is a middle of the road writer. If Slash came back, it would only help sales and live shows, not the songs themselves. Please, Izzy give Axl some new songs to sing over.

/Appetite will always be in my top 5
//just cut your losses and reunite the band already

Funny, I didn't feel a thing.

Plus I wanna know what Skwerl's real name is. I guess Gozinya and Fitzwell seemed too obvious.

It was maybe the PEAK of hair bands. They didn't really die until '92 or so.
