(Starpulse) Obvious Celine Dion tops the worst rendition list, her cover of AC/DC's "You Shook Me All Night Long" considered a "musical offensive" bad enough it could sink ships, or at least have us puking all night long   (starpulse.com) divider line 64

I expected this to be much worse than it actually was. Which is not to say it didn't suck - it did! But the worst ever?

I said this in an earlier thread about this same topic, and I'll say it again. Celine Dion's cover of this song is bad. Awful, even. What's actually worse is her performance of it. But all that miserable badness does not equal the sheer horror of the cover of "Dream On" I heard at some store this weekend. I don't know who was singing it other than it was some woman, but oh my goodness, it was ear-bleedingly bad.

Irish boy band Westlife's take on Extreme's More Than Words coming third in the poll.

It's hard to imagine that anything could actually make that song worse.

She might as well cover Brian Johnson-era AC/DC, since she's always a little horse hoarse.

tadees: Which is not to say it didn't suck - it did! But the worst ever?

Indeed. And it's nowhere near as bad as the Scissor Sisters' rendition of "Comfortably Numb," which apparently didn't even make the list.

Oh, or Fred Duurrrrrst's version of "Behind Blue Eyes."

The cardigans covering "Iron Man" ? (new window)

I almost agreed with you, until I saw this (new window) which is somehow strangely erotic.

I have to defend their covers. The Cardigans cover Sabbath songs on a lot of their albums (which is the only reason I know who the Cardigans are). I think the fact they're Sabbath fans comes out in some of the other Sab songs they've covered. I think that it takes a lot to kill the supernatural power that's at the core of every Sabbath song.

Still...

20 seconds into this song, I get extremely anxious and aggravated, and I don't care if its a video of Gina gershon slowly spreading her naked legs to reveal a freshly-shaved mound, I have to stop the video immediately or I will have to stab a lead pencil through one ear and out the other

Everyone is wrong on this. Celine Dion's version of "Big Balls" is the greatest cover evah!

I watched about 45 seconds, but what I saw didn't suck nearly as bad as I thought it was going to.

I'd have to say I've heard lots worse. That was definitely "listenable".

But I'm weird like that.

Totally in agreement. The sound is bad, but not ears bleeding bad. Her performance though makes me want to kill. She does not ooze the raw power one needs to sing ac/dc. The song was a poor choice and she was way out of her element.

According to Ozzy -that is his favorite cover version of the song.

I absolutely add a resounding

THIS

When I heard it, I cried, almost vomited, and became depressed at the current state of music. It was without a doubt the worst butchering of a classic song that I have ever heard. Fred Durst should be drawn and quartered for that abomination. Have I managed to express my disgust adequately? I can only begin...

At least it wasn't "Dirty Deeds (Done Dirt Cheap)".

"Big Balls" would have been hilarious, tho'.

On another note, I submitted the Celine Deion You shook me cover, and was green lit, about a year ago.

Celine Dion's version of Meathook Sodomy by Cannibal Corpse is even worse. The woman just can't produce a decent death-grunt, and her pitiful performance disgraces the good name of Chris Barnes.
