Why, does he take too much money from an ATM machine using their PIN number?

dj4aces [TotalFark] 2008-06-22 05:05:47 PM
Probably because he's pulling more voters away from McCain than he is from Obama. Call it the Perot effect.

Geez, Farkers can't remember anything that happened in the last two weeks.

I'll be voting for Barr, but it won't be taking a vote from McCain or Obama. I wouldn't vote for either if they were the only people running.

Bob Barr- the Ross Perot of 2008.

Why they're polling anywhere, especially in Georgia, without putting Barr into the equation is ridiculous. Gotta consider the major names, and there's a lot of "whoooooooa, I'm not a Republican, don't look at me" sentiment out there after the last eight years.

Very true, especially since 1-2% in many cases can swing a state. The pollsters probably think that since he only entered the race a couple of weeks ago and has smaller name recognition outside Georgia, his effect on any race outside Ga. is so far unknowable.

Yeah... Barr's presence in the race puts Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, and South Carolina in play. The press though is not paying too much attention to the third party effect in the South East.

The reason is that the press wants there to be a close race... but if the Republicans do not have a lock on the South, then the race is not going to be anything resembling a close race.

fivethirtyeight.com is giving Obama a 75% probability of victory, and a 40% probability of Obama winning in a landslide (375+ EV).

It's a reference to a story a few weeks ago about a Republican congressman named Dino Rossi who isn't putting "Republican" on his campaign materials due to the party being in the toilet right now, instead going with "GOP Party." We had a thread about it and everything.

I thought it stood for Gay Ol' Pedophiles.

A Barr candidacy and a big African-American turnout for Obama won't just mean Obama takes the state -- it could mean we throw out that asshat Saxby Chambliss. Yipee!

Barr doesn't get put into polls because typically third party candidates poll above their actual support.

Not to mention that the Libertarians are dysfunctional.

For those who don't know This is McCainDemocrat. He is a flaming racist who has been proven to not be danlpoon due to near simulposts. But he is also the least successful Troll on Fark. It is fun to post his comments so those that ignore him read them anyway. He is a douche. Oh and the very idea of someone thinking that owning your body and firearms is obviously beyond his ability to comprehind. He also can't understand how someone could be a prolife libertarian.

I'm voting for Barr as the lesser of 3 evils. I'm not convinced with his new found love of libertarianism, but it's a win-win in my book. I get a protest vote AND it hurts McCain.

I'm still waiting for that moderate fiscal conservative/social liberal to get excited about.

Do you really think he's a spoiler? How many people that would vote for Barr would actually consider voting for McCain? I'd guess that most would just stay home if there weren't a third option. I'm sure I would.

Remember Nader 2000? That's all it takes to have an effect. Current polls in Georgia and North Carolina have him getting 8 and 6 percent of the vote.
