Oh come on. Their kids have got to be what, like 50 years old? It's not like they can't handle it.

Stay away from Meghan? Oh.... I don't think so.

"I have tried to make her understand about politics, but she doesn't understand. She is still very hurt from it. But we're a family, we protect each other and we deal with it."

So, let me get this straight. The child was devastated by the remark. In order to "protect" her and "deal with it", McCain decided to (once again) run for president but this time, keep her little dark face out of the camera's eye. Yeah. That's supportive.

Shouldn't Cindy and John McCain be nominated for Parents Of The Year?

...and she didn't publicly complain about then (notice how neither Bush or Rove's name appears in her response), but is now concerned about a "repeat" this year, implying that Obama's campaign would sink that low.

Party before family. Must have learned that from all those years of being married to The Maverick.

Do we also have to stay away from the one that's actually John McCain's illegitimate love child from a stripper?

/it's gotta be true
//Karl Rove told me so

Magorn 2008-06-22 11:56:05 AM
Cindy honey, you're confused. It was the Republicans who attacked your children in 2000 (new window)

and it was your husband, apparently having no scraps left of his famous honor who cozied up to the men that financed that poll, and the mastermind of the strategy, Karl Rove.

of course you being in a percocet haze at the time I could see why its a bit addled.

and lest you think that last was a nasty ad hominem Here's what Cindy herself said on the subject (new window):

Mom Cindy McCain shared that, due to an addiction to painkillers, she had previously not been able to protect her younger daughter Bridget from brutal politically-motivated racial attacks on the campaign trail. Leading up to the 2000 South Carolina Republican presidential primary, opponents spread false rumors that John McCain had fathered his then-7-year-old daughter out of wedlock with a black mother. In fact, the McCains adopted Bridget from Bangladesh in 1991.

I really don't like the trend of voting for people based on whom they married or didn't marry. I want to know what someone's policy decisions are, not what their wife did or didn't do 20 years ago.

But, but, but.. it says so much about them, just like who their pastor is and what he said that one time in 1998!

/sigh

I'd rather vote or not vote for someone based on their voting record and their policy positions. whom they married is entirely irrelevant to how good or not good they'll do as president.

I wouldn't say entirely irrelevant. Just look what Hillary Clinton has done.

Look again at that pic the Arthur Jumbles posted. I know it's an issue with perspective, but her leg looks really short compared to the rest of her body, almost like a midget -- a midget with big tits that I would totally do if I was in her league.

If McCain's daughter was born in Bangladesh, doesn't that mean she was born a Muslim? So now she's an apostate, right? And middle eastern leaders will hold that against McCain or some bullshiat like that? I think someone should write a New York Times op-ed exploring this subject...

I like Janet Reno, but the thing that bothers me about the joke was that he was targeting the children of opponents. Totally out of line, and perhaps Cindy should've focused upon her husband's tendency in this regard.
