This is what happens when people lie to pollsters about how they really feel.

Oh, wait, that happens all the time...

Suicidal Writer 2008-06-22 10:11:25 AM
It's what underlies the Bradley Effect, the inaccurate polling for Obama but not Republican candidates, except one instance with Romney (a Mormon who had to face prejudice) and it explains why Obama has no chance at winning in November. There are some who doubt the existence of the BE, but they are going to learn the hard-way in November that it still exists. This is the first time it will show itself in a presidential election. It's a lot easier for it to be drowned out in a state-wide election in which turnout is low.

Now I wouldn't discount the so called `Bradley effect' entirely, or even the `Reverse bradley effect'. I think it is a real thing, to some extent but I don't think it's all that significant. Considering that Obama is smoking McCain in the polls like a pack of camels, it would have to be a huge issue to actually matter, but I guess we'll see.

JoeBagadonutz [TotalFark] 2008-06-22 10:51:22 AM
Where I live, in the circles I move in, Sen Obama has two strikes against him: He is a Hahvahd educated intellectual, and he has a Muslim negro dad. McCain, on the other hand is an old fart. I think McCain has it hands down at the Ameican Legion and most of the rest of Floriduh. I would have voted for Ron Paul just for the entertainment value.

How many would be open to an Asian-American President? And if they had Chinese ancestors, you'd not only have cultural stereotypes, but suspicion of divided loyalties, even without a CHIPAC lobby.

two thirds of this comment are 76 percent likely to be half the time completely irrelevant while the rest is strongly indicating a rift between the two sides of the same coin with an overriding majority firmly rooted in not believing any of it at all. Based on this research, mccain will win ohio.

People are just worried about what will happen when Obama moves into the White House. It will be subtle at first; late night runs to Church's, hoopties parked outside of the gates, but then it get worse. Then you will have graffiti on the walls of the White House, a bunch of Obama's homies will be sitting outside on a couch that is on the White House lawn, and the neighbors will complain from all that "jungle noise" that is blaring through all hours of the night.

Three out of ten admit prejudice. Prejudice takes many forms, and allows for exceptions.

Nine out of ten are open to the idea of a black president. So, of the three out of ten admittedly prejudiced people, some would consider someone who is a black president to be an exception.

Two thirds are entirely comfortable. The other one-third could be wholeheartedly against, or just have some reservations.

This isn't necessarily inconsistent.

My dad is one of those old people who means well but still acts like a bigoted asshole quite a bit of the time. He's prone to saying things like, "remarkably articulate for a black person" (yes, he adds the usually unspoken "for a black person" when he says it). He's responded negatively when he's met people I know who are black (either with surprise that his daughter was hanging with darkies, or really over the top with statements that he worries I might be turned out - seriously!)

That said, last weekend he announced that he was voting for Obama because he believes McCain is senile.

So, you see - you can be prejudiced, you can even be an outright bigoted asshole like my dad - but still vote for a black guy because you think the alternative is worse.

There are two things Obama supporters everywhere should be aware of. We're going to be disappointed and hurt by our master Obama, this will make conservatives happy, and it's going to happen the hard way.

We're so gonna get taught a lesson.

I just wish Republicans would keep this kind of talk where it originated, their bedrooms father's woodshed.

Beginning to believe Wright went back to the church for HIS portection. After all, murdered Donald Young had told Larry Sinclair (who was jailed immediately at the conclusion of his presentation at the National Press Club on 6/18/08) that BHO and Wright were trying to figure aout what to do about BHO and Young. How many cover-ups and "hit jobs" yet to come? Big Media and the corrupt Dems conspired to remove him from the scene. He's history. Another one bites the dust. Dissent and you're gone, just like in other corrupt totalitarian governments.

OUR FREEDOM OF SPEECH IS LOSING GROUND BY THE DAY. THE BLOGGING WE ARE DOING NOW? ITS DAYS ARE N U M B E R E D.

The "redo" of the Presidential seal by the BHO camp is much more than an over-the-top insult to the integrity of the Presidency. Its no-so-subliminal message to the robotic youth - is the most blatant to date - that he IS indeed the Manchurain candidate AND the damn ANTICHRIST.

Don't you see that the Marxist forces began with baby steps in staking their claim - and the insidious poison haS now infiltrated all strata. NO birth certificate demanded by our INEPT ADMIN, and WHERE THE HELL is PATRICK FITZGERALD? BOUGHT OFF TOO?

I predict violence ahead. But I don't believe it will be the thugs within his ranks that have been so pervasive with their blackmail and extortions of innocent people who will be the ones to lead the major uprising. It will be the PEOPLE who storm the gates, just as in previous historical scenes throughout the world. While BHO says "Let them eat cake," or maybe just "get over it," the groundswell begins to take root in the largest outcry since the Civil War in the 1860's. Disagree?

The REVOLUTION to come will be the result of the complete shutting down of our democracy that is not just occurring as we blog, but has been GOING ON for several months now.

WE ARE SMACK DAB IN THE MIDDLE OF IT. I TRULY BELIEVE IT IS TIME FOR THE REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION TO STEP IN AND TAKE DRASTIC MEASURES AGAINST THE INJUSTICES THAT ARE A DAILY EVENT. LET'S HAVE A REVOLUTION RIGHT NOW.

START WITH D E M A N D I N G THE BIRTH CERTIFICATE!

2/3 are entirely comfortable, so ~66% for. On the other side, 3/10 have racial prejudice, so ~30% against. That' covers 96%, +/- the margin of error if you think that someone with racial prejudice might not be entirely comfortable.

9/10 being "at least open" covers the 66% who are comfortable, and part of the 30% who have some but not a blocking amount of prejudice.

It makes sense to me. Oh, and people lie to pollsters. And the number of people who would normally not vote, but are going to just so they can vote against the negro will probably be outweighed by the number of people who have been pissed off for the last 8 years and will vote just so they can vote against shiatter McCrutch Bush the Third. Bottom line is, there's too much going on here to predict what will actually happen election day, and we have to hope that your candidate's opponent gets caught doing drugs with a latino stripper.

Sorry, but the die is cast at this point. There are four choices:

1) Vote for Obama because you agree with him more than McCain.
2) Vote for McCain because you agree with him more than Obama.
3) Vote third-party or not at all, because you don't like either choice and want to make a statement.
4) Vote for McCain, while agreeing more with Obama, because of fear.

The "vote for Hillary because I'm concerned other people won't vote for a black guy" door has been closed.

Save your "I told you so"s till after November, please.

Suicidal Writer,
What you portend could easily happen. People don't want to be put in the spot during a telephone survey. They'll lie their asses off on this one. It's called the conversion behind the curtain. Or reversion to their cultural mean, how's that?

Could be a mess come November and be completely legitimate. Do you understand?
