Great list.

Pocket Ninja, if you are out there, will you write us a story about WTF is going on between Capn' and the whale on this box?

"Crunchy Loggs" sounds like something my cats would make. In the litter box.

I'm stickin' to fresh fruit and vanilla yogurt for breakfast, thanks.

d-liver I remember OJ's and was going to mention that! When I was a kid my family participated in one of those "family opinion" groups. They would send us stuff to try. The only thing I really remember was OJ's, which were not yet available in stores. We hated them. Guess other test families liked them cause they did show up in the store soon after. But not for long.

The Vanilly ones look great. I would buy those. Though I agree TPTB ought to re-think the art on the box.

No Urkel-Os? Come on ... this list is incomplete. Lots of things I have never seen though, maybe too young; I was quite the cereal fanatic when I was a kid.

I remember the "Baron Von Strawberrys", and there was another cereal, sorta like his nemesis, called "Sir Grapefellow" and he was supposed to be a British pilot and the cereal was grape flavored.

Both my wife and I snickered at Crunchy Loggs like the 12-year-olds at heart we are.

I seem to remember Freakies Cereal (new window). Does anyone else? I remember they had little plastic figures of the Freakies and I also remember that my Mom sent away for the entire set for me. I was about three or four at the time. One of the Freakies was missing it's head.

I saw it in there...went back and looked....number 19.... I was wondering why there were 2 WW1 plane cereals, facing each other...wasnt sure if they were related or not..

Crazy Cow was also pretty awesome, but I preferred the chocolate flavor.

Wow. So right with that one. My parents never bought us sugar cereal, so on the odd occasion that a box of Frosted Flakes found its way into the house, we'd tear into it like a pack of rabid hyenas on a wounded wildebeest.

capn' crunch with 1% or 2% milk may well be the greatest bowl of anything, ever.

Man, I miss King Vitamin! That was around for a while.
I think the only other one I can remember getting was Pink Panther Flakes, so they must have aggressively clearanced out those cereals when it went under, or my sister must have been able to choose that week. "PINK!"

Our family eats a lot of cereal. It's the only thing the husband can prepare without actually damaging part of the kitchen, and the kid can use the enrichment on those "picky" days. For a while there, I was being very careful about going with over a gram of fiber per bowl, hoping that would buffer the sugar a bit, and the one I found with the flavor they wanted and the fiber I wanted was Fruity Pebbles. So of course my grocery store started reallocating most of that shelf space to the damn marshmallowy dino cereal.

/Seriously, the generic Total used to go on sale for about $2 a box -- cheap source of RDA of folic acid. I'd buy extra and put it in the "share" barrels.

pjbreeze 2008-06-22 10:16:46 AM

Holy smokes...KABOOM!

That was my favorite cereal when I was reeeaally little. Wow, haven't thought about that crunchy goodness in about forever.

Awesome blast from the past.

Anyone remember a kid's cereal from the early seventies that was outer space-themed, I think the mascot(s) was an alien with a big head (not Quisp). I wish I cold remember more about it...maybe it had a brown box, possibly something to do with moon rocks (maybe). Eeesh, not much to go on, but if it rings any bells, lemme know.

yeah, last year they brought back Alpha Bits for a bit and I bought a couple boxes. What could be better? I had a 3 year old, she likes letters, right?

Yeah. That stuff goes stale FAST. it's almost gooey by the second bowl. Ew. None of us ate it.

Saw it again last week. Learned my lesson.
