I should see a Cooper show before I die. No idea if he even preforms still.

first time i saw alice was during the billion dollar babies tour around 1973. he and his band were fantastic. both the music and the onstage antics were a riot. dead bodies, babies, hangings, projectile pu....
truely a disgusting show...i loved it.

There's quite a dichotomy between his concert persona and the persona he portrays on his classic rock radio show. On the radio show he comes across as a perfectly decent if a bit zany human being.

This doesn't quite jive with that...

I never got the whole act, aside from the obvious, However, I do think he's a great performer, and the fact he's still active, not to mention hosts a radio show on top of that, is awesome.

/has an interesting connection to Mr Cooper.
//see if you can guess!

You have a restraining order against you from him?

The Ballad of Dwight Fry is an all time classic. If you've never actually "listened" to early Alice, you should. Aside from the theatrics, they wrote some great tunes.

Gonna go see Alice in Casper, Wyo in August. I don't care who else is gonna be there, with $50 bucks for a front row seat, I'm THERE.

I wonder if there's a Japanese version of Fark, and if so, would this video show up as one of their "WTF videos of the day".

On-stage decapitation. Truly brilliant. See, this is why the Spice Girls comeback tour sucked so epicly.

I got to work one of his shows in Milwaukee once, I was the spotlight operator who had him for my assignment.
I was connected to Alice all night long with a beam of light,it was awesome!
one of my favorite spot gigs ever....

He tours all the time. Check out alicecooper.com.

I saw him a couple summers ago here in little ol' Billings, Montana. ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!!!! I've been a fan since I was a kid in the 70s. And his show was so much fun, and so full of energy that I will never forget it. Plus my teen daughter went and it made a fan out of her. What a great dad I am eh?

Anyway, if he ever comes anywhere close to you, GO!

BTW it was an awesome show, everybody should try to see him sometime. lots of fun, and those old songs are overlooked rock legends!

WFern 2008-06-22 05:37:02 PM
No More Mister Guy was the only Cooper song I've ever liked. The rest were "okay," but nothing great, and his only saving grace for me is that he puts on one hell of a show.

Saw him in South Bend, Indiana about three years ago. He is quite the performer. He came back last October, I believe. I should have gone.

I saw Alice with my parents in the 80's! I had the Welcome to My Nightmare album memorized by aged 6 - I loved it.

/Of course I also loved Rhinestone Cowboy when I was 6, so who knows

Serial Killer X 2008-06-22 06:02:59 PM
I've seen him twice now. It's really worth going. it's part concert, part pantomime. A really refreshing change from seeing bands just stare at their instruments/feet while playing.

This man is pure rock and farking roll. Only Gwar puts on a better stage show.

Former Lee Warmer 2008-06-22 06:47:01 PM
First time I saw him was New Year's Eve 1996, with Ted Nugent.

Alice didn't put on a stage show, except for a badly choreographed fight during "Gutter Cats vs. The Jets". I've seen him several times since, and he even pulls out all the stops for his free shows. I just can't figure out why he didn't do anything for New Year's. Weird.

/My parents used to hang out with him.
//One of my mom's friends used to bang him.

JonoPEI 2008-06-22 07:02:55 PM
I saw Alice open for the Stones in Halifax a few years ago. He put on a great show.

Yes you should. I've seen him twice. The first time had a guest appearance from Dick Wagner, and the second time I caught some beads during "Dirty Diamonds." I've never seen the decapitaion though. The didn't kill him the first time, and they hanged him the second.

You talking about the October 6th 2005 show at the Morris? I was there, too! Recorded it on my minidisc stealth concert taping rig!

Awesome show!

My first concert was The Captain and Tennille at an amusement park. My second was Alice Cooper.

I've seen him live a number of times, starting when I was 12. From Welcome To My Nightmare to Flush the Fashion and the Alice Cooper Show -- from nosebleed seats to front row.

Greatest showman ever, but its time for him to retire -- his voice is shot. Not to mention he looks weird with the fixed teeth.

Would I pay to see him again? Hell yes! But it wouldn't be the same. And I'm sorry I never saw him live with the original band.

saw him do the guillotine one show, and the gallows another.
great performer. oddly enough, apparently he was one of Frank Sinatra's favourite songwriters.

I love most everything he created from hey Stooped on back. Though I cannot get into the current works with the heavy religious overtones as they have lost the healthy campy tung-in-cheek attitude of albums like "Goes to Hell" had.

I will say He puts on one of the best live shows I have ever seen. I cannot imagine the giggles that go on back stage with the crap his Daughter gets to do to him. I do find it kinda creepy that she took the place in the show that her Mother had back in the mid 70's. But it has to be fun.

Bgnome I was right there with you man \m/

My mom and her sisters went to school with him at Cortez High School in Phoenix. She used to tease him a lot when he performed on stage during lunch period. She swears to this day he changed his name to Alice just to spite her. (her name is Alice). She still calls him Vince and I doubt she's ever actually listened to a single song of his :)

Remembering Alice: I was helping some friends who had won a contest to be the opening act for Alice at the old Atlanta Municipal Auditorium in the very early 70s ('70 or '71?). We were bringing in the opening act's gear and Alice and band were going through a sound check onstage.

I remember it because they did the most hard rocking balls-up version of the Patty Duke show theme and I was both laughing and amazed that these guys could rock like this. Plus the bass player had the longest hair I'd ever seen on a guy in my life.

Alice is one of the most normal people you will ever talk to. Shockingly so. My two biggest "rock star" interviews that I did were him and Rick Nielsen. I would've given a limb to see Cheap Trick back Alice in NYC... (I was out of limbs that week...)

subby - thanks for posting that. Never did get to see him live, but was a fan in the 70s (not so much now) so that was great.

When the original band lived in Greenwich, they used to get out quite a bit - you'd see Neal Smith's Bentley all over the place and run into the guys in convenience stores or pizza places. I recall thinking it odd that none of them really hooked up with other bands afterwards, since they all seemed proficient.

Couple of years after the band and Alice split, I bumped into Dunaway unexpectedly as I was renting a movie from the video store he used to own on Hope Street in Glenbrook (Stamford). I thought he had written some great songs and memorable bass lines... and to be renting a movie from him and him saying, "This is due back Thursday," was just... strange. But I hear he's playing again back in CT, so good for him.
