Can someone tell me why people were on a ferry during a typhoon? Do we not have a meteorologist in the house? What is with these people?

If you live in an area prone to severe weather, seems like you'd keep an ear to the ground and a eye to the sky. If you can't evacuate due to geographic location, then at least avoid sea-going vessels out in the open ocean.

At least the folk in New Orleans weren't out deep-sea fishing when the rains came. (can't give them much more credit then that, though).
