How to speak "Waste my farking money on some stupid BS like this" brought to you by Thad McCotter(farktard)

Mordant [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 04:55:02 PM
I'm not sure I have time to watch the whole video, how much of it is dedicated to talking about the positive accomplishments of recent Republicans ?

I have a feeling I'll have time to watch that part several times.

the_pgoat [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 04:57:25 PM
I would not invite this guy to my parties. He seems like a tool.

DeltaXi65 [recently expired TotalFark] 2008-06-20 04:57:53 PM
McCotter is hilarious. I don't know if he's being funny here, but in person, he has one of the best deadpan deliveries I've ever heard.

Brettster808 [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 05:05:42 PM
I wonder if he does children's parties.

FTFY.

That was like watching someone read a Fark politics thread from the House floor.

Anyone named Thad is a thool.

burndtdan 2008-06-20 05:12:03 PM
seriously, his first point is:

progressive = regressive
as in...
democrats are progressive = democrats = regressive

wow, what a compelling argument.

burndtdan 2008-06-20 05:12:38 PM
burndtdan: democrats are regressive

Excellent, excellent analogy.

superbeerchan [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 05:22:53 PM
Of course, there should be the obligatory "How to speak Republican" in response to this.

Trouble is, would it be German with a trailer-park accent, or Trailer-park with a German accent?

/I keed
//But only a leetle

i wish we had real liberals in congress. It's farking obvious that all we've got are damn posers and 'centrist' apologists.

Cyberluddite [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 06:33:54 PM
Perhaps this jerkoff should himself take a lesson on "How to Speak English." Perhaps then he would learn that "Democrat" is a noun, not an adjective. Then, after mastering English, maybe he could move on to his brilliant and insightful analysis.

I'll bet this tool has never seen a woman naked in real life. He seems rather bitter.

sigdiamond2000 [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 06:48:55 PM
He could've saved everyone time and just went up there and started sobbing like three-year-old who just dropped his ice cream cone.

Question: Does anyone actually know what Republican politicians believe in anymore? What they stand for? I mean, I know what they hate--DemonCraps--but do they actually have any policy positions anymore other than "Democrats are terrorists"?

/That said, this guy does have a pretty humorous delivery. Credit where credit's due.

SphericalTime [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 06:56:02 PM
A "premier."

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

unlikely [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 07:06:12 PM
I don't think he's serious. I can see how this stuff is all fodder for satire - which I think is what he's doing - but no one is enough of a tool to say all this stuff without the satire hat on.

RevMercutio [TotalFark] 2008-06-20 07:11:30 PM
downstairs: Chill out everyone. It was pretty funny, agree or not.

Actually, it was pretty boring. His delivery was rote, and his attempts at levity were even worse.

I'm curious if Congressman McCotter has ever done anything useful besides buy himself the chairmanship of the Republican Policy Committee.

This guy is my new least-hated Republican.

Aevum 2008-06-20 07:42:57 PM
You know. I didn't make it all the way through, but I could have just replaced every single iteration of Democrat with Republican and it would have been exactly as true.

Sad.

Also: Does anyone know the context of this?
Was this one of those "invite people to sit in the House on the House's day off" things?
Or was this douche actually wasting House time with this?
Would it be ironic or just hypocritical if he was?

DarnoKonrad 2008-06-20 07:43:11 PM
Someone get this guy a job at the Half Hour News Hour. Pure comedy gold.

it's really kinda annoying that the youtube links always open to an embedded player, rather than the actual youtube link. Is there a reason for this?

"CONSERVATIVE" = "NEOCONSERVATIVE"
"Republicans are conservative.
Translation: "Republicans are neoconservative."

"LIMITED GOVERNMENT" = "FASCISM"
"Republicans support limited government."
Translation: "Republicans support fascism."

"WORKING-CLASS FAMILIES" = "BIG CORPORATIONS"
"Republicans cut taxes for working-class families."
Translation: "Republicans cut taxes for big corporations."

Nope, still painfully unfunny.

Democrats can not tell the truth about what they really want!

I want health care reform. Outlaw the insurance companies and regulate the pricing of medical procedures of all types and levels for 10 years, then let the market take over slowly.

I want special interest group reform. No legislator, of any level, be allowed to accept gifts or contributions from anyone. If caught they face life imprisonment.

I want gun control reform. All states, open carry. All states, free background check comes up clean = ownership of any gun you want to buy. All states, shall issue CCP. No registries, no catalogs.

I want LEO reform. I can haz privacy plz. Seriously...

More proof America as a culture isn't ready for Democracy.

/Try being adults, once in a while.

ultraconservative liberal: YOU KNOW HE'S RIGHT!

With all due respect, I'm a Democrat that has lived in the Washington DC area most of my life, has worked in Congress, and has watched politics carefully over the years, and here's what I can tell you:

Neither party is stellar, but here is the major distinction:

The Republicans are exceptional at politics, but have almost always faltered when it comes to generating useful policies because the GOP puts the good of their party before the good of the nation, and that requires putting together policies that are simple enough for most American to comprehend. The Democrats, on the other hand, usually advocate excellent policy proposals, but can't explain most of those policies in simple language because serious policy proposals are usually comprehensive solutions to complex problems which more often than not could not be summarized on a bumper sticker.

This video is a great example of what I have just articulated. This Congressman doesn't provide any substantive ideas, or even back up any of the claims he makes. He simply goes onto the floor of the house, slanders the other party with the simplified Republican talking point interpretations of the Democrat's policies, and walks away.

What would most Americans get from this? Answer: The Democrats advocate socialism, raising taxes on everyone, causing our nation to 'lose' the war in Iraq, and want to bring back the good ol' days of the 1970s. Is this accurate, much less honest? No. But will it trick some people who are simple minded enough to eat it up into voting Republican? Yes.

This video disgusts me. It goes to show not what is wrong with the Democratic Party (as most of the claims are nonsense and nothing more than unsubstantiated Republican opinions regarding the opposite party), but EVERYTHING that is wrong with the Republican Party.

It is this type of bullshiat that has caused a lot of people to lose respect for and wander away from the once respectable Republican Party. Someone needs to get the GOP leadership to realize that if they started offering serious policies for consideration, rather than simplified policies that are nonsensical supplemented with ridiculous politicking like this, their party might actually have a chance of making a comeback sometime in the next decade.
