This is gonna Thai up the news all day with this crap.

Haha, I lied! No one in my country gives a shiat what happens in the outside world!

Ah, the glorious conversion of barricade to blunt instrument.

One F Jef 2008-06-20 03:53:28 AM
Oh big deal, some protesters, just send in a tank and make a protest pizza.

Benjamin the Rogue 2008-06-20 04:00:05 AM
I'm surprised by the little force the Thai police seemed to have used. But this view is from a little far away, and through the cold, lonely computer monitor.

Wow. In America they would have gotten the firehoses at about 11 am, or maybe that new heatray of death I keep hearing stories about.

You know, I keep a roll of metallic screen and a few sheets of sheet metal in my garage in case the microwave heat gun comes around in the US of A. If the police or govt try to microwave me, I'll be responding with a high powered rifle (aimed at the magnetron).

Hilarious. The Army ousts the government, dissolves the parliament and suspends the constitution. Restores democracy after banning the former ruling party from participating, only to have them return to power de facto through a new front group. So, what do the citizens do? Are they overjoyed the Army's coup d'état was more or less subverted by the ballot box? Nope; they're out protesting ... demanding the resignation of their new government. Should just have asked the Army to step in and make sure it gets done right this time -- all smothering and so forth.

The magnetron? I thought it was the small thermal exhaust port I was supposed to aim for.

He tells the crowds to say "Thank" police for allowing them to move the protest.

Ha ha ha ha aha HAHAHAHAHAHA ;)

Good to see the police have been restrained. Obviously Samak would love to crush the protesters, too bad for all those pesky cameras around. สมัครออกไป

Hopefully there will be some Muay Thai action

GIS that, 3rd row, I'd box that, AND ship it priority.

If we ever got to the same boiling point with our goverment in America it would be 20-30 million protesters heading to D.C.

/yes we can

I'm reading this from Thailand, so I'm getting a big kick out of this...

O yeah, in the past 50 years there have been an average of one coup every 2.5 years or there about.
Furthermore, I am not seeing anything on the Thai news at the moment.

Zxaranthium 2008-06-20 11:14:30 AM
Isn't this an annual event?

DocPetey 2008-06-20 11:17:54 AM
Ah, Thai politics. Gotta love it.

Still, I think I'll call and check in on my ex-pat friends living there.

New SoaD sucks. Daron should not be allowed within 30 feet of a microphone, seeing as he sounds like a 12 year old diabetic girl who needs an insulin shot.

The Nation is covering it, as ais the BKK Post. The local TV stations were warned off the story.

Thanks for the info, but sadly I care very little. This has become such the norm here... O well I might get a few days off work again, maybe even a few tank pictures as well.

How long have you lived in Thailand, if I may ask?

A friend of mine got the day off at the UN building in Bangkok because of this. She says a couple of hundred yards back of the confrontation line, it's like the biggest, best street party ever.
