"I don't mean to be impudent," said one reporter, "but why are you wearing a kilt?"

Not to mention having large boulder sized balls to utter that commetn at National Press Conference.

Did he just announce his huge balls at a press conference for a criminal making homosexual accusations against a Presidential candidate?

Where do they find these people?

Same reason I've been wearing a kilt since I was 12. I got a doctor's note and everything. Never had to climb the rope in gym class either.

That's my general feeling... I don't remember much craziness for Clinton/Dole in '96... 2000 seemed pretty tame, 2004 was hotly contested and the swiftboat thing was kinda stupid, but this cycle has just been flagpins and madrasas and "bomb bomb bomb, bomb bomb Iran."

It would be nice to return to some kind of intellectual discourse. I don't really even know what the hell Obama stands for because he's spent so much time responding to stupid crap. I don't really know what McCain stands for because the camera's always on Obama. Their respective legislative records give a hint as to what kind of president they'd each make but it'd not the full picture and I get the feeling like I'm being patronized when they talk, like I'm too stupid to handle anything but platitudes and flowery promises.

Then again, maybe people just don't want to hear there's real, concrete problems in this country.

I heard Sean Hannity talking about this guy being "a problem" for Obama, I guess he didn't hear about this;

But after he took a polygraph test and failed, he has struggled to get mainstream media interest in a story he said began in the back of a limousine in Chicago in 1999.

or this

He has what is called a colourful background: a 27-year criminal career which includes convictions for fraud, forging cheques, and stealing credit card numbers.

or this

Sibley has had his own problems: a Florida court struck him off for vexatious litigation, most of it directed against his former wife.

It's going to be tough to swiftboat Obama, with clowns like these it will be entertaining though.

It is because Obama's supporters are a bunch of children. Oh, I didn't forget him... and I think he was a very interesting candidate, in retrospect... but he hardly contributed to craziness.

I mean, he had concrete ideas for the issues he was running on. That's what I like to see. This election cycle is just... pure... bullshiat. Perot was a goofy guy but things were still professional.

But if you're of middling size then a kilt, traditionally worn with nothing underneath, doesn't provide full coverage. I have to wear pants and then just tuck the end into my socks.

It is pretty raucous this year, but only more so on the internet. The MSM coverage hasn't been a whole lot different than the last couple elections. The fact that we have one internet-savvy candidate (or his staff, at the least) has made this election a bigger deal to all people younger than the Boomers.

If you really are 17, you give me hope for the next generation.

But I'm staring down the barrel of 40 and I can't remember an election that wasn't mostly cynical stupid shiat and maneuvering. There IS stuff that matters under there though. Obama is pretty good at making sure that comes through, that he's smart and thoughtful, while still being canny enough to fight back against the slime machine. That's why I like him.

The internet has definitely made it worse though, just by being an instant, always-on conduit for unfounded crap.

Oh, and 2000 wasn't tame. It was the most controversial presidential election in a generation. It rose to Constituitional crisis level. You were just too young to remember that we had no idea who was President for a month. It was very strange. In a weaker democracy, there could have been a civil war. See Zimbabwe.
